I have a round face shape with long and thin hair. I cant find the right hairstyle! Would layers help? But that would only make my hair look thinner and flat!

Hi Rosie,

Layers are great for thin hair, trust me on this one. Try a feather or step cut. They'll add volume to your hair, making it appear less thin.
Make sure you ask your hair dresser to keep the last layer long (tell him not too cut off too much) and add lots of layers (usually we get 3-5 layers in a step-cut) The more steps he can add, the better!

Good luck.

The best hairstyles for a round face are those that will add length to your face.

A long straight hair is a great choice because long hair will make your face look longer. In addition, because it is straight it will make your head width appear less.

But what if you do not have straight but curly hair?

Do not worry; you can still enjoy a long hairstyle that will look good on you. You can use a hair straightener to make your hair straight if you want.

A different good hairstyle idea that will look good on a round face is a long hairstyle with curly ends. This will add width to the bottom of your face so that you face does not look round.

A simple way to find beautiful hairstyles for a round face is to see which celebrity has a round face and then find that celebrity’s hairstyles images.

Round Face
If you have a round face, you should aim to add length. If you don't want long hair, part your hair on the side or add fullness on top. Avoid a neat bob with a fringe. A round face gives an overall appearance of roundness. A full face is flattered by a short, layered cut. The top of the head should be given a ‘long’ look with a layered, curly style, extending to the back. If making a topknot, get a lot of elongated tendrils out. That balances your face. A lot of volume to the hair will give it a flat look. A severe, tied back style also makes the face look rounder. Avoid it

The right hairstyle begins by the shape of your face.

Round face
Hairstyles with fullness and height at the crown will give the impression of a narrower face.
Try a cut with layers while keeping the sides close to your face to make your face appear longer.

Round faces suit either short hairstyles swept back from your forehead, or hairstyles that are longer than chin length.
Wispy fringes and side parts are also good.

Avoid chin length hair, center parts, fullness at the sides of ears, straight "chopped bangs - these wll all emphasise the shape of your face.

all the best. :]

Since you have a round face shape, you could try hair styles with fullness and height at the crown; Off center parts in your hair; Short hair styles with a swept-back direction or hair styles that are longer than chin length. By layering the top to achieve fullness and keeping the rest of the cut relatively close to the face, your face shape will appear longer and narrower.

You should really try to avoid chin length hair with a rounded line that mirrors face’s circular shape; Center parts; Short-short crops, straight "chopped" bangs; Fullness at side of ears. A rounded haircut ending at the chin will certainly add weight to your face shape. Because the widest part of your face is at the cheeks and ears, you need to avoid having the fullness of the cut here as it will make your face appear wider.

Here are some celebs. who also have your face shape, and are looking spectacular...check out their pictures and take guidance from that aswell.

-Ingrid Bergman
-Roseanne Barr
-Kate Winslet
-Natalie Merchant
-Drew Barrymore
-Christina Ricci
-Charlotte Church

Good Luck! :)

I have a fairly round face. When I don't wear my spects, it looks a lot rounder, to the point of it being very round. Firstly, don't have a center parting hair style, it really enlarges your face. Side parting/ side fringe is a good idea, or a fringe down the front of the forehead isn't bad either. Try to style your hair whereby there is more height at the crown, the added height will enlongate your face.

Layers is the only way & have them shaped around your face.
Layers actually give your hair body not the opposite. The shorter the layers, the thicker your will look.

You could opt for a round cut or a cut that makes your hair looks voluminous.

If you're a guy, go bald. A girl, go layer it.
