I am kind of like that. But I think it's more like I have been hurt in the past and my emotions were so powerful that I just learned unconsiously to block them out because my reactions to things were so overwhelming. It was a problem for me. I would do very dangerous things such as find nothing wrong with going with a complete stranger in NYC into a very bad part of town to do a very bad thing and I'm from Nebraska. I wasn't the slightest bit worried. I wasn't worried when I found out I had a disease or that I got pregnant or that I could have been homeless. None of that really worried me. But I found that not worrying always makes your emotions come out in a different way such as bad behaviors so the cycle just repeats itself. It may also have to do with evolution. Worry is something that is an instinct we inherited from previous generations when worrying was key to survival. For example, if you knew that the food supply was decreasing, you would worry, which would promote action. But nowadays, we are so desensitized and there is the illusion that there is always a solution to a problem so generally I think people worry less even where there clearly is a lot to worry about these days!

It just depends on what type of worrying you are talking about: worry about yourself or others? If you are talking about yourself it just may mean you are a very positive person and have confidence in yourself and have high beliefs and hopes about your future regardless of the situation. This could be seen as a positive. On the other hand it may mean you live out of reality and keep yourself in denial about life's potential tragedies. It may be a way of protecting yourself from hurt.... if you have been hurt in the past. If this is a possibility get some counseling so you can live life to its fullest.
About not worry about others? Personally, this could mean a personality disorder. Some people develop without a conscience.... serial killers, scam artists, and corrupt used car salesmen for example. If you are saying you dont have the ability to care about others, which relates to worrying, you may need to look at yourself seriously and get some help.
Regardless, not worrying about yourself or others in the event of a worst-case scenario is not normal in most situations. Gets some counseling and figure this out about yourself. The main reason for counseling is to gain awareness about ones self. If this is something that is bothering you and/or is affecting your relationships, get some help on it.

I do not "lack the ability to worry" however, I do not stress about things as much as other people I know seem to do. I have a calm and peaceful nature. I am not saying that I don't worry at all, it's just "what will be, will be" and there is nothing that I can do about it, so why worry.

I have always made it a rule not to worry about the things I cannot control.
If I can control them, I don't worry, because it is within my ability to fix it.
Don't sweat the small stuff
Dont stress the big stuff. Makes for a long and stress free life.

I have met that type. I found that his/her resource was doing nothing. That did not fix the serious issue, but it was a way of life. The family suffered since he/she did not take care of their health. It was a very sad situation and seemed to work against him/her.

I don't worry either. I usually just do what I can to alleviate anything that needs to be done. If I am unable to do anything about it, well that's just how it is.
