Hi, guy! You don't need to go to a bar to initiate a date, just go to a game of anything, look around, there is bound to be a single female, if you haven't dated before and are a little shy, don't just look for the "knock-outs". There are plenty of females that adore shy guys, they are usually shy themselves, maybe over looked girls who have a lot to offer but are not the most gorgeous ones around. Or go to a library, plenty of females hang out there, or bookstores, see a girl, look at what she is reading, if it interests you too, mention it to her and see where that leads to. Or find a book that you are interested in, either the author, or the subject, or whatever and mention it to her, see if she has the same interest, go from there, it's a good place to start. Take a walk in the park, if you have a dog, take it with you, a dog is a great attention getter/but don't go buy a dog JUST for the attention, you must love the dog, treat it well & that will be a great start for at least conversation. Ride a bike? Roller skate? Swim? Dive? Almost any activity, even getting groceries or doing laundry at the laundromat, you are bound to see ladies there also. Keep your eyes open, a sweet smile on your face, your hair combed, decently dressed, who knows, someone just might be looking at you for a date!!!! Just don't open with some creepy line, keep yourself real. Good Luck, guy! :-) Hope you don't smoke, it's a real turn off! The smell is awful & no one but another smoker will be willing to kiss an ashtray. If you do smoke, keep mints or gum on you at all times. :-)

Start talking about your interests. Mention the movies.
Ask her if she would like to go with you, on the weekend.
Make sure you know whats on & suggest a movie you 'both' would like.

Their great,in the dark,cheap and can be very romantic
Ask her if she would like to watch a certain movie, you've been dying to see
You could pick her up,go to see a movie, then go for a walk or get a coffee somewhere nice like the beach or somewhere public, so she doesnt think you have one thing on your mind and can feel comfortable knowing your a nice guy

Or, why don't you ask her to go to a sporting event that you know she may like.

Or do the old fashion thing & ask her to dinner on Satuday night at 8pm. You will pick her up. Make it a suprise

Depends on what kind of girl you are looking for. Someone who will be just a fling.. go to club.. or a party.. something more serious... grocery store... library... bookstore. You initiate one by asking a really random but dissarming question like... hey my sister has a shirt just like that... or do you know what time it is?... whatever the answer... you have an 'in' now you can introduce yourself and ask for her name... be confident.. that is Key.. its an attractive quality.. if your shy... dont let it show till later... it only matters in the beginning

An easy way to do so might be finding a topic that she is passionate about and asking her if she would like to go grab some starbucks and talk to you about it.
