Fab question sweetie pie. A is right! Spoon loads of stuff onto your plate with your pudding spoon - not the poncey little spoon provided with the pickles. Break off a piece of poppadum which should preferably not be flat, but concave so you can fit loads into it. Start with a load of onions, then add mango chutney (no lumps) then add the yoghurt. Mmmmmm. Perfect.
If you're ever out with anyone who eats directly from the spoon in the pickles tray - delete them from your life - that is the worst thing ever xxx
PS I've tasted worse things than lime pickle

In Restaurants you are usually sharing your pickle tray. Etiquette is to avoid your saliva finding its way into the pickle. Therefore spooning individual portions onto your side plate and mixing and matching various combinations is the correct form.
Incidentally do people break pieces off their poppadom or do they smash them up (a hard tap in the centre suffices) and help themselves to the shards.
So your intimidated by Indian lime pickle. Try mixing it with the sweet mango and a little yogurt.

option A is best.
B is no good because unless you are eating alone then others will be trying to get pickle too and there is only 1 spoon per pickle.
C is no good because dipping the poppadum into the pickle tray keeps breaking bits off it into the pickle.
D eat alone and do whatever you want.
and
No, I hate lime pickle

I don't know the official way, but I have fork in one hand poppadom in the other, and take a bite between mouthfuls of curry, a bit like eating a biscuit, the chutney goes down with the curry.

Pickles, Poppadoms (known as Papad in India) are used when your food is bland & just to spice up / flavour to your meal. It's like pampering your taste buds.
Usually when you are having it along with your meal, people in India break it down in pieces & eat small those small bits as you have a bite of rice or bread in your mouth. When you have it just by itself or along with drink, you can still break it in to small pieces & eat like wafers (chips).
You can take a small piece of poppadoms & dip it into Pickle / Chutney to add more spice to your life ;-)

All the above methods are acceptable. What you mustn’t forget when going for a curry is that you always order too many popadoms so that you’re too full to eat your main course!
