I don't know what the percentage rate is but my father is 83 years old and just had it done, he had one eye with a new lens put in and the other for severe nearsightedness, right now he has 20/20 vision for his age that is so neat! He went in at 9am and was home by 1pm, they gave him something to make him a little drowsy, did the surgery, fed him lunch and home he went. That night he was very tired from the meds, his lens eye burned bad, the other one stung some, they gave him drops for both eyes to use, sunglasses for being outside, and the very next day he went back for the vision test. It's been just a week and he's been back driving and to normal still with 20/20.

it has ben found that upto 1 in 6 people who undergo laser surgery end up with complications that effect their eyesight.these include:-
distortion of vision such as irregular astigmatism that cannot be corrected by glasses.
others simply xperience a deterioration in their quality of vision or serious dry-eye syndrome.
one thing more u shud nt get laser treatment done if u r
under 18
pregnant
have thin cornea
hav large puils
has history of eye disease.
so no doubt the procedure is expensive and there can be side-effects too, for some people the benifit of throwing spectacles and lenses is cheap at any price.

REALLY REALLY GOOD!
I just had it done (about 4 days ago, they put in a new plastic lens (after removing a cataract) I'm telling if I knew it was this good would have it done way sooner.
Only sat in chair 5 Min's, home and up could hardly see, then like a clap of my hands everything crystal clear.
Go for it.
My 33 year son had his done 4 years back real good eye site and his eye site well he was blind dam near.

Cost $780.00 Canadian a eye but well worth it- 2 month waiting though. Done in my eye doc office

PS. Sherry I believe you may be wrong about the 1 in 6 figure,
To my son it was worth it, to others I know (about 15 people) and to me was worth it. It a chance you take and there are risk at almost anything!
