I will make steak I use a cheap charcoal steak and it turns out wonderful. This recipe uses flank steak but i didn't like it that way. The marinade isn't hot or spicy because of the hot sauce, if you have any suggestion of what else to put in the marinade to make it better let me know, I'm open to any new ideas.
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tablespoon grill seasoning blend (recommended: Montreal Steak Seasoning)
1 teaspoon smoked paprika, ground chipotle chili powder or ground cumin
2 teaspoon hot sauce – eyeball it
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar, 2 splashes
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 pounds flank steak
Mix garlic, steak seasoning, smoked paprika, chipotle or cumin, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce and vinegar. Whisk in extra-virgin olive oil. Place meat in shallow dish and coat it evenly in marinade. Let stand 15 minutes.

One simple one to serve is cook pasta like Penne which can be done the day before. Mix it with a red italian sause and a white alfredo sause (which then becomes a pink sause) and top with cheese like parmesian or any hard white cheese that you grate and bake for 30 minutes. You can add italian sausage or hamburger browned to this dish also. Serve with leafy green salad and a hunk of italian bread. This is also easy to make when serving lots of guests. Just make more pasta (I did 3 pounds) and add more jars of sause. I served this with meatballs on the side. Suits vegetarins and meat loves alike.

My favourite - See what is in the press and fridge throw them all into a frying pan add a couple of herbs and garlic then add a can of chopped tomatos then serve with rice or Pasta and you have used up all the things in your press that you just bought so that they would be there if you need them!

Casseroles can be an idea--ground meat of your choice, browned with chopped onion, then mix with noodles, frozen veggies of your choice and cream of mushroom or cheese soup. A lot of different varieties and balanced nutrition for cheap.

I would go with pastas (like spaghtti) and casseroles (like tuna casserole), where the most filling thing in it cost the least.
Check out this tuna casserole recipe my husband likes to make!
