atbt: You're being judgemental. Why shouldn't a moslem ask about something she isn't sure of?

The purpose is to please God! This is what humans were created for, to please God. And if he is happy with how we spent our lives we get the reward for paradise for eternity!

I think you need to learn some basics about what is being said in prayer, firstly you need to form a good intention before you start

I have turned my face sincerely towards He who has brought forth the heavens and the Earth and I am not of those who associate (others with Allah). Indeed my prayer, my sacrifice, my life and my death are for Allah, Lord of the worlds, no partner has He, with this I am commanded and I am of the Muslims. O Allah, You are the Sovereign, none has the right to be worshipped except You. You are my Lord and I am Your servant, I have wronged my own soul and have acknowledged my sin, so forgive me all my sins for no one forgives sins except You. Guide me to the best of characters for none can guide to it other than You, and deliver me from the worst of characters for none can deliver me from it other than You. Here I am, in answer to Your call, happy to serve you. All good is within Your hands and evil does not stem from You. I exist by your will and will return to you. Blessed and High are You, I seek Your forgiveness and repent unto You.’

Next you read Surah Fatiha, and the rest if you need an explanation this site has a good animation with english translation so you can understand.

Peace Be With You

We imitate the way the prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed. We pray close to exactly the same manner he prayed in, from where we place our hands, to every movement we make.

There are numerous purposes for our prayers:

1) Obedience to God's command

2) remembering God throughout our day

3) as a means of having our sins forgiven

4) purifying our hearts

and others.

In reality our purpose in life is to worship God and the prayer is a manifestation of that.

The purpose is for you to remain close to Allah at all times

Praying guides you on the right path & helps you become a person of good character.

The more you pray it reduces the chances of shaytaan (devil) disrupting your life.

I beg your pardon. Are U a Muslim.? I do not expect a Muslim to asked such question. If U are a Muslim, U should know why we Muslims need to pray 5 times a day. Why are U born in this world if not to pray to ALLAH S.W.T. ALLAH S.W.T. already spell out clearly that the creation of mankind is to pray to ALLAH S.W.T. Do not be a defier. Be faithful and be grateful to be a Muslim.

There are many purposes.

1. A spiritual connection between a person and God.

2. Physical activity that shows the humbleness of human infront of God's great majesty.

3. A physical cleansiness, where a person washes up 5 times a day.

If you look deeply into it, it has a lot of benifits for mankind.

Peace.

Salaam (Peace) to all.

The Muslims pray 5 times a day to keep mindful of the virtues of our chosen Path in the midst of an all-but virtueless world. It allows the Believer to re-align his mind with the Mind of God, his will with the Will of God; to help him/her keep focused on the aims and purposes of the Faith.

The positions as well as the frequency train the Believer in the value of humility and the benefits of humility in relation to the Supreme Being.

Standing - the position Allah finds us in, in our illusions of self-sufficiency.

Bowing - the position we assume upon realizing the Greatness of God.

Prostrating - the position we assume upon realizing the absolute Supremacy of God.

Standing - the position God raises us to, to manifest His Greatness through His Servant(s).

it is for remembering God throughout the day so we are less likely to sin.
your sins are erased (the ones committed in between prayers) after each prayer. But with the right intentions and if you repent.

when you are in both bowing possessions is when you are closest to God..this is when you can talk to God or ask for forgiveness or whatever you please.

i hoped this helped.
