each person has only one soul at a time. it is discarded as no longer having a purpose once the person passes on since all it is for is to cover the spirit when living an earthly life.
twins are seperate spirits, having seperate souls when alive on earth.

Zero. The soul is a mythic conception of the human self and vital force as some sort of substance, entity, or object; it predates modern scientific understandings of consciousness, which correctly attribute cognitive functioning to the brain, not the soul.

If you have a soul, where is it? What is it made of? How does it interact with other objects in the world, and what are the consequences of its interactions? What test can you do that would show that you have one? Where does it come from, and where does it go? Do non-human animals have souls? Plants? Bacteria? If not, what criteria do you use to distinguish soul-bearing beings from soul-lacking ones? Do brain-dead people have souls? What about lobotomized people who can't "feel" anything? Where do you draw the line? How do you know? Why do you believe? The questions are simply endless. This is because the soul is somewhere between mythology and poetry; it has no direct role in our understanding of human nature.

To the people below who say "one each body": what about conjoined twins? Two brains, two personalities, two world-views, two ways of thinking and groups of hopes and dreams and fears and loves... but one body. Do conjoined twins have only one soul? If not, then what criterion beyond having a distinct "body" gives someone a soul?

Additionally, you surely don't believe that dead bodies have souls, so you must believe that living bodies have a measurable quality that gives them souls, which dead ones lack; what is that quality? How do you use it to distinguish which bodies do and don't have souls? If someone had no brain at all, would that person still have a soul as long as his heart still pumped, his blood still beat? What if he had no head? And, again, what about non-human animals? "One body, one soul" is not enough to coherently discern the souled from the soulless.

There is one universal soul from which all individualized forms of life forms are created. Each of this life forms carries within it a portion of the universal soul in its pure unmanifested form. It is this individualized soul which powers the body and the ego allowing us to identify ourselves and live in this world. At such all souls in the universe are ultimately connected. However there is no soul splitting ( generally speaking ) even with twins.

Well if you think of the soul as the consciousness, unless they had two different souls they'd think with the same brain and be telepathic. And no Stephen King, twins are NOT really telepathic... They'd also be unable to do two separate individual activities at the same time.

Twins only shared the same egg - or even not. Everyone has its own soul, its own "waterdrop of the ocean".

You must not have any understanding of the Word of God to ask such a question. Spend a few hours each day in the Word asking the Father for wisdom and then you won't need to put yourself in this kind of situation. You will be answering with power.<><
