I'm baking cookies for my friends but all the recipes shows the unit 'cup' in measuring butter. I live in a Singapore and all the bakery goods are sold by weight. can someone please help me? Thanks!

1 cup is 8 ounces or half a pound, or about 225 grams.

100 grams butter is defintiely 1/2 cup, so it follows that 1 cup of butter must be 200 grams. Here in India, we get to buy butter in grams, but most of the recipes I follow are in cups. As measuring butter in cups is a messy business, I always use 100g for 1/2 cup. Its perfect

1 cup butter = 2 Sticks = 1/2 pound = 227 g

i have a box of stick butter that is one pound / it has four sticks that are 1/4 cup each / so one cup is 1/2 of a pound
