"Wives Submit to your husbands in everything."

Our culture has tagged this as negative and insulting.
Can anybody think of why this is actually a beautiful word used in the above biblical quote context?

It is ABSOLUTELY beautiful because when everyone assumes their proper place in the marriage, God BLESSES immensely. You can have a taste of Heaven in your home here on earth, if husbands will LOVE their wives, even to the point of laying down their lives for them, should it ever come to that; and when the woman is submissive to her husband, she has a sweet, Godly spirit, that makes for a happy home, happy kids, and a happy husband who can't WAIT to get back home to be with her...even after MANY years of marriage!

Hi, I'm a Christian woman;
look, people take this wrong all the time.
When you join together as man and wife, and plan to have a family, there's an old saying that goes " too many chefs spoil the stew" - and what that means is that someone has to steer.
A woman is to choose a man who is man enough to steer - you don't hand over the wheel to any idiot in the car, and you certainly don't do it when it comes to a mate. A man who is accountable to God, a man who works and provides for the family, who protects his family, and most of all, cherishes his family. What does that get a wife? Respect, honor and love. And that goes for her children, too. A man is to honor his wife and put nothing and nobody ahead of her except God Himself. He is responsible directly to God for this.
This entire thing hinges on whether you have a man, of course, and not some crackhead loser who won't work, is an idiot and verbally abusive, etc. Thats the guy you throw out on the street, get it? You don't cast your pearls before swine, ladies.
But with the right man, you honor and respect him, and he honors and respects you; you both have your roles so that the household runs smoothly and both parents aren't yelling over each other, or at each other, trying to run the show. People today don't understand the true meaning of a marriage - it takes respect, patience, and sometimes even keeping your mouth shut. But its sure worth it, again, if you find the right person.

Yes, submission. Wives should submit to their husbands but only so long as the husband is submitted to Christ. And of course that means the husband will have to love his wife even as Christ loves the church. And that means that the husband puts up with everything and take the blame for everything. And continues to love the woman. Like it or not.
By the way, Submitting yourself to the King(Jesus) makes you very very wealthy.

Johnny Cee is right

It is sort of like one of my favorite quotes about Christianity ,

"The man who truly and fully and unerringly loves God can do what ever he wants to do"

This quote is based on an earlier Taoist saying where if one is in complete harmony with the Tao one can do what ever they want.

Hey look!!! Two different religions that seem to have vast similarities of opinion on this topic.

Well that was probably a beautiful thought back then when they actually needed women to do housework and have babies and stay home. It's clearly no longer relevant in society. I consider that requirement no longer necessary even for Christians. Jesus taught equality more than anything remember?

Submission is the duty of all Christians. Paul limited the word to women in a few verses, but then he opened all of his letters announcing that he was a slave to Christ.

I think I know the answer. I think it is better not to say. I think that it should not be proclaimed publicly, because we do not have the full cultural context of this exhortation. It has value for the Christian who has spiritual discernment. I don't recommend teaching it to others.

with one slight change . . .
"Husbands submit to your wives in everything"
now, do you find that insulting?
