I am trying to convert pictures that I have on my PC to put them on a website. The pictures now are 1.5MB or more. The website only allows to 600KB. is there an easy program that will reduce the size of the picture, then allow it to be put back in my P.C. picture file?

we can convert 1.5MB to 600 KB or more down by simply going in adobe photo shop & changing it's resolution by right clicking on top of the image & going into image size and reducing it's resoluion to reduce it should be less than or equal to 150 Pixels/inch.

if you have Photoshop, just click "Save optimised as..." in the file menu, i think this program is the best for optimising the pictures.
But, with any other programs, you can change the size of the original image (you did not mention the pixel size of the pics), and also reduce the quality of the picture from 100% down to 80-90%. Sometimes it is enough to reduce the size to 600kB.

Download "irfanview" from http://www.irfanview.com/ and install. It's freeware and very good. Load your picure file, then click "File" then "Save as...". If you save it in .JPG format, there are a number of options, including "save quality." As you decrease the quality from 'best' to 'lowest', the size of the file will decrease. Going from 1.5 MB to 600K should still result in a perfectly fine picture.

I used the Office 2003 "microsoft Office Picture manager", open the picture using the problem and click on the "edit picture" tab, you can then select "compress pictures", there are several options on how small you want it compressed.
