harder? yes, only because it is heavier and has no or fewer gears/speeds than most road bikes...

if the area you ride is mostly flat, then don't worry too much about it.

The name might give you a hint here. If you are cruising (say 10-15mph) a "cruiser" is a bit more comfortable. (your more upright).There isn't as much wind resistance at these speeds so comfort could make things easier. They are pretty basic machines so there is nothing too difficult about riding one. If you want to go faster the things that make it comfy work against you.

A road bike takes a lot less effort to ride so you will cruise at a higher speed. Road bikes tend to have a lot more gears but are not difficult to ride either.

Both are ridden on regular streets so it is really a matter of how fast you want to ride.(and what you want to look like)

No, its easier if you just want to cruise but if you want to go ups hills or off road its not happening. It's good for surfers because it's easy to ride with one hand because it's a stable ride.
