In the United States, many states do allow first cousins to marry. (http://marriage.about.com/cs/marriagelic...
But, it is usually frowned upon by society in general. I know that I wouldn't want to marry a relative, much less a first cousin.
Albert Einstein married his first cousin. And so did Charles Darwin, who had exceptional children.
First cousins face lower risk of having children with genetic conditions than is widely perceived.(http://www.washington.edu/newsroom/news/...
As for a Hindu marriage:
Two persons are said to be within the degrees of prohibited relationships:
If one is a lineal ascendant of the other. For example a Daughter can not marry her father and grandfather. Similarly, a mother can not marry her son or grandson.
If one was the wife or husband of a lineal ascendant or descendant of the other. For example, a son can not marry his stepmother. Similarly, a person can not marry his Daughter-in -Law or son -in-law.
If one was the wife of the brother or of the father's or mother's brother or the grandfather's or grandmother's brother of the other.
If the two are brother and sister; uncle and niece; Aunt and Nephew or children of brother and sister of two brothers or two sisters. It must have been noticed in some communities the marriage with the wife of the brother and mother's brother and the first cousins are solemnized, those marriages, in the absence of a custom in the community are not valid marriages.
(e) The parties are not apindas of each other, unless the customs or usage governing each of them permits of a marriage between the two. A apindas relationship with reference to any person extends as far as the third generation (inclusive) in the line of ascent through the mother, and the fifth (inclusive) in the line of ascent through the father.
In plain words, a person can not marry up to his second cousin from the mother's side and up to his fourth cousin from the side of the father. It is also necessary the parties should not be apindas of each other from either side.
In case, either party has a spouse living at the time of marriage, within the degree of prohibited relationship and are apindas of each other, the marriage between the parties shall be null and void. (http://www.helplinelaw.com/docs/main.php...
Best luck to you.

Fooooooool ! If she is the daughter of your mother's elder sister ,
it means that girl will be a sister for you by relation da!
Are you a mad to marry your sister ? You might love her before you didn't know who is her ?
But . now , You exactly know that she is your sister , then why are you taking such notorious decision....It'll be shameful for you , your parents , your family and almost to our greatest Indian culture if you marry her !
Just forget all the memories you spent with her , my friend and try to avoid her ...... Then only it 'll be good for you in the society...
My friend , you have the right to marry a girl who is not your caste/religion or anything that doesn't matter......Caste and religion has no role in a true love....
But , in your case , it's a blunder in your relation....So.., avoid her and ask her to forget you and you should always think that she is your sister whenever you see her in your lives !

In the United States I believe there is some sort of law preventing close cousins from getting married, which is what I believe you are if I'm reading correctly. The problem is, yes, with children. Close relatives having children increases the chance of children having birth defects or mental disabilities. If you are not in the US, then I'm not sure of the laws.

first of all she is your cousin. You do not marry your first cousin that is gross. Also if you do and have children than your children will not be normal. Do to the fact that you and your cousin share the same genes those genes are pass to your off springs and this causes the genes not to reed properly and you will end up with a child that is deformed or it can be worse. i do not care what society you belong but its not normal to marry for cousin find someone else that is not related to you

Genetic defects are a consequence of marrying a first cousin. You could cause your children to have major health problems. Sorry, but it's true. Don't do it. And, no, I do not think marrying a first cousin is legal in this country.

I think it might be illegal to marry your 1st cousin in the US, because of the genetic problems, but I could be wrong. My father married his 3rd cousin. Luckly I wasn't a product of that marriage and haven't died of cancer, like 3 of his other children have.
