We note that when the religion of islam was started, the middle east was in chaos. Muhammad was fleeing for his pathetic life from his enemies.

Subsequently as we move along history, we note that Genghis Khan almost obliterated muslims from this earth until the muslims started begging for mercy and Mr Khan let them off:

Subsequently we see the Ottomans conquering lands after lands and that was when islam started flourishing. Question is this. SO...are these scientists and inventors muslims, or are they captives of the muslim aggressors forced to convert under physical threat to convert into islam?

Some muslims like to boast about how great islam once was. My point is, islam was NEVER great by the sheer logic that islam was too young to have established a community long enough to groom any intelligent followers (if any). And we have a perfect example of islamic violence and backwardness today to prove this.

That's all quite true. Islam is less a religion than it is a ruthless program for brutal totalitarian rule.

Arabs and Muslims appeared on the world scene in 630 A.D
Very few indigenous communities of the Middle East survived this -- primarily Assyrians, Jews, Armenians and Coptics (of Egypt).
Having conquered the Middle East, Arabs placed these communities under a Dhimmi
In the fourth, fifth, and sixth centuries Assyrians began a systematic translation of the Greek body of knowledge into Assyrian. At first they concentrated on the religious works but then quickly moved to science, philosophy and medicine. Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Galen, and many others were translated into Assyrian, and from Assyrian into Arabic. It is these Arabic translations which the Moors brought with them into Spain, and which the Spaniards translated into Latin and spread throughout Europe, thus igniting the European Renaissance.

When Arabs and Islam swept through the Middle East in 630 A.D., they encountered 600 years of Assyrian Christian civilization, with a rich heritage, a highly developed culture, and advanced learning institutions. It is this civilization that became the foundation of the Arab civilization.

Assyrians played a significant role in the shaping of the Islamic world via the Greek corpus of knowledge.

What literary, artistic or scientific achievements of the Ottomans can we point to?

No.
Some where born into it.
While Europe was in the dark ages some of the knowledge discovered by the Greeks, the Chinese and others was still available to Muslim scholars. Some of the "discoveries" attributed to Muslim scientists were plagiarized, and expounded on by Muslims.
Muslims did make advances in math and astronomy contrary to your belief.

Your "sheer logic" is flawed and more your personal opinion than an objective appraisal of a culture whose ways you do not agree with.
Not all Muslims espouse or practice violence.

And I am far from being a Muslim apologist.

your facts are based on anger, frustration and stupidity...

(so meaning, it's okay for christians to kill others (regardless of religion) during the dark ages?)

(so it was okay for you to cleanse yourself of sins by PAYING money to the churches during he dark ages?)

(so filthy rich priest and bishops with gold rings and jewels that decorate their clothes are people to be respected)

c'mon dude...

you're just frustrated cos you didn't get your daily dosage of weed today...you ain't 'high' on life today...

probably you're SANE when 'high'....
(not that it matters cos your account is going off soon....)

salam!
