You cannot find your cat using the microchip. Having a microchip will help you get your cat back once it's found by someone else. Someone has to scan your cat to see if they have a microchip. Once they scan your cat, then get the microchip number, then they can call an 800 number to get your contact phone number, then they can call you.

Hopefully someone will find your cat and take it to the humane society or to a vet. Humane Society's automatically scan all pets found, and vets that have a scanner will scan found pets for free.

I would also call vet clinics and pet stores around your area to see if anyone has posted a FOUND pet sign. You can also distribute flyers around your area and to vets offices.

Best wishes and Good Luck! My cat got out once before, and we were able to find him again. It took a week, but he is safe and sound.

If he has a microchip the Vet would have a record of it. You can go to him for info on finding your cat.

You need to go to the place where he got the micro chip put in. They will have a computer that has info on where your cat is. And they DO NOT have to scan the cat. The computer picks up a signal that tells where the cat is. And you are NOT a bad owner. A lot of cats wonder around outside. You are still a good owner.

Do you have a GPS locater?

Having a microchip? what kind?

There are GPS trackers (but rare), but most likely, the one you have is the one where the owner's information is on it, sort of like a dogtag.

Ask your neighbors or local sheriff dpt if they had picked up on a cat.
