My old man (an ex-Canadian) tells me about how maddeningly politically correct Canada is. How true is this?

Canadians are not more politically correct in my opinion.
They are however, painfully polite ... and I mean this in that ... no matter what they are thinking, or feeling, or they have been trained since childhood to be polite. Except for when it comes to Americans, in which case they are usually rude and condescending.

Canadians tend to be more polite and (especially in urban areas) more left leaning. This doesn't mean that we are more politically correct.

I agree with everyone. We are not more politically correct, we are just politer then some other (unnamed) country.
Doesn't mean there aren't any rednecks in Canada though, they just keep it among themselves.

For the most part it is true. Being politically incorrect is really considered rude to the extreme.

I think they tend to be respectful of other peoples feelings and cultures if this is politically correct... then so be it
