Well go into a hall way with no windows get on your knees bend down and kiss your *** good bye. lol . It used to scare me until I went through a tornado and don't let that saying at top scare you, we used to say that as kids when we would have tornado drills at school. That's just a joke people say to lighten up the mood when talking about tornadoes. Little did we realize then how important those drills would be. If you hear a siren head for a basement or cellar some place away from windows, if no basement find a closet with a door thats on a ground floor and no windows nearby, if not available try to find a deep ditch to jump in and lay with your face to the ground and put your arms over your head to protect it from flying debris. when on the floor in the hallway get on your knees and bend down as far as you can go until your head is in your lap and cover your head using your arms to protect from debris. I have been through a few tornadoes both while in a building and outside. Best of luck to you and yours.-James Also if no place safe to go in the house try the bathroom if its on the ground floor and away from a window. Just jump in the tub and get into the same position you'd get in for if you were in a hallway and cover yourself completely with a blanket to help protect you from debris.

well in my town they test them frequently. i dont know how old you are but learn about them. as a matter of fact you can create your own tornado in your kitchen (OK OK everyone stop laughing) whati mean is you create a vortex. chances are you have seen it and didnt realize what it was. Have you ever seen boiling water? sure. next time watch the steam closely. as the hot air rises and comes into contact with cold air a vortex occurs. you will notice that the steam rotates. there ya are! a micro tornado. another example of a vortex is a zephyr or whirlwind or dust devils. check out some videos on these subjects.
I have seen a tornado up close and personal. It was a sunday in april. I was at work. I managed a restaurant I saw it and it was very scary.. By the time I had gotten my customers to safety, well it was gone when I came back out to have a look around. Theres more I could tell about that one but it was very ugly. but I encourage everyone to learn about tornados and what to do in the event one is spotted.
