Why does he command so much more power than the rest of us "normal" sinners? Is he not at least "capable" of sin? The answer is yes, and therefore, how can he be closer to God than the rest of us? Jesus was incappable of sin and therefore perfect. We as human beings, are inperfect and therefore need CHRIST, and only CHRIST, to be closer to God and gain entrance to heaven. Someone explain this to me, i am utterly confused and bewildered, because there is only one Bible, and it does not say anything about confessing to another person our sins, nor does it say to place one man above all as "holier" than anyone else.

Don't be confuse. Most teaching of Catholic are against Christ Doctrines. Read the bible and test every religion you met if they are of Christ. Reject a religion that does not belong to the teaching of God. Praying to an Idols is not God teaching so reject the religion prays to the Idols.

1Jo 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

The Pope is a leader for the Roman Catholic community. It's just like people who look to the President. If you can't place anyone "holier than anyone else," then why do people worship Jesus or God or Mary or anybody else? The Pope has earned his power by proving that he can deny his original sin. I guess you could say he has strong will and fights off the urge to sin. He may be closer to God because he has probably sinned less than others. Jesus was not incapable of sin. There was a time he ran off and Mary couldn't find him. He sinned when he ran away from his mother--although I believe he ran to a church. The Pope is a reminder to us about Christ. Let me ask you a question...if all we needed was Christ, then why did people have to write the Bible? Why would people have to tell the stories? People need something to pass down traditions. Roman Catholics have the Pope (among others) to lead them in their traditions. The Bible is composed of writings that were EDITED, and some writings were LEFT OUT. (I'm not saying it's wrong!) Everything there is to know about God and Jesus, etc. is not necessarily in the Bible! Have you heard of the Dead Sea Scrolls? I suggest you look it up--gospels and other writings predating many of the writings in the Bible and different versions of the writings that are in the Bible. And yes, some people are holier than others...Jesus was a man. He was holier than anybody who reads this and 6 billion others that don't.

All the other religions are the same. The Pope, the Rabbi, the Pastor, etc... We are all sinners and we forget very fast. There is not a single person in this world that has not broken all the commandments or anything from any other holy book. Even the dear Pope who really thinks he is bigger then life itself has said things that later he must have Sh_ t bricks. Look, only people can give some one or something power. In every corporations like the Catholic Church are the riches and the most corrupted of all times now and since there beginning. Since the beginning of all religions they will make you think they are the truth, righteous and posses the only way into heaven. But if your need someone else to save you. Believe in that there is no one person or persons who is holy or holier more powerful then anyone or anything then GOD. You don't need a church to tell you how to act, speak or read and most of all your body, soul and spirit don't need anyone, but let your consciences by moral valor and most of all please use COMMON SENSE. Remember that the conscience is having the value, faculty that leads to a feeling of remorse. To review those moral precepts and to try to avoid repeating the behaviour.

Imagine that you are studding for a very important exam and then something comes to your mind that comes from nowhere. That is a good example of an evil power that tris to distract you by something that looks good.
That is why people put faith on the Pope because is the representation of God in Earth.
and God divides in the holy trinity that means that God is 3 in 1: God Christ and the Holy Spirit. (no one has the inteligence to understand) I can only secure that it divides in 3 Personalities, persons, that does not mean that there are 3 Gods.
God watch us, Jesus teach us, the Holy Spirit guide us.
God represents a father that loves us (you may be questioning that if he is a father and we are their suns why he doesnt present us. if he do that when we commet something wrong it will be lost all things and no forgive because we all ready see the big surprise and go to hell.

Try to look it at this way as in Halo 2 the 3 Phrophets, Truth Mercy and Regret in the same order, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit not holy ghost or cost.

REMEMBER
THERE ARE NOT 3 GODS ONLY ARE 3 PERSONALITIES PERSONS IN ONE its difficult to believe. a great power awaits you at the end of your life.

I am not going to give the you the big, long, winded statement as some of the others. Your question it self consider to be the most infallible. This does not only falls within the Pope hands, but also others who claim be the main center of Christ. Throughout History Kings and Queens have terribly fail in constructing the love for the people as Christ have done for us.

Why is the Pope given so much authority, why do people love movie stars, why do people enjoy putting others above themselves? and yet Jesus is highly forgotten! We in love of Jesus Christ gain the same entrance to heaven as you mention. No one will who believes in our Lord Jesus Christ shall be the foot stool of Lucifer. Martin Luther intention was not to revolutionized Christianity, but to have the RC summons the truth of the Bible. He even held on to some Catholicism after the excommunication.

God Bless

I think you might want to re-read the Bible. There are many references for confession and confessing to another, and also the appointing of the first Pope by Jesus Christ, who was Peter. I'll give you one reference to check out, but I'll leave the others for you to discover on your own, if you actually are interested, you'll read the Bible.

We do not think the Pope is incapable of sin, he is human just like the rest of us. He is simply the head of our Church, just the same as the President is the head of our country.

Of course pope sins, since he is human, only Jesus Christ had no sins. And what Catholics claim about the pope is not acceptable that is why there are major differences with Orthodox.

Confession, you are right, about your question. I did ask the same question quite a lot of people and priests. The only answer which satisfied me was that - During the confession and while the priest wears the special cawn which symbolizes God, the person who confess infringes his ego and admits the things he did wrong.

Simple answer...The Catholic faith is wrong. It places the whole religion and its millions of adherents within what the Bible terms " Babylon the Great".
The basic claim that Jesus is God himself, albeit in some other 'form', and ignoring the many scriptures in the book of John, where Jesus himself claims a lesser position than his Father in heaven. [ John 5;19]
Also the refusal to use Almighty God's personal name [ Jehovah Exodus 6;3] and to remove if it from modern Bibles. And to replace the Holy Name with a title...LORD.
And to introduce a so called ' third party' to the arrangement, the Holy GHOST, in reality the Holy Spirit, which is not a person, but God's POWER. Something that God can dispense and grant.
It is not an entity that can operate of its own volition.
And NOTHING is equal to God. So the claim of Co-equal is false.
And finally, the word 'Trinity' does not appear in the Bible. Jesus never mentioned it.

>>Why does he command so much more power than the rest of us "normal" sinners? Is he not at least "capable" of sin?<<

Yes, he is capable of sin. His power comes from the office created by Jesus, not the state of his soul. Jesus entrusted Simon Peter with the care of His Church (Matthew 16:17-19 and John 21:15-17). In Peter's very first recorded act as pope, he directs that Judas' office be filled, stating, "For it is written in the book of Psalms, `Let his habitation become desolate, and let there be no one to live in it'; and `His office let another take'" (Acts 1:20), so we know the Apostles had successors. Benedict XVI is the man who currently holds Peter's office.

>>it does not say anything about confessing to another person our sins<<

"'But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins' -- he then said to the paralytic -- 'Rise, take up your bed and go home.' And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men." (Matthew 9:6-8)

"Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.' And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.'" (John 20:21-23)
