Definitely. In scans, one is exposed to harmful radiations. But in situations where benefits outweigh such harmful exposure,it has to be carried out.But the harmful effects are in a miniscule proportions for scans carried out for a few times. But constant, repetetive and prolonged exposures are definitely dangerous, and should be avoided.

Would it be worse for you if you did not get a CAT scan?

cat scans use radiation to get an image of whatever is being looked at - that is never good.

Do you mean "is it harmful"? Not unless you have a special condition and you will be screened before the CT is given.

If you mean is it scary -- not at all -- it's not like it was years ago when practically the whole body had to enter the cylinder. Now the CT is only a couple of feet long.

If your doctor recommended you have one, relax. It is a big yawn.
