Maybe we should lobby for a "National day of ignance" and stress the importance of misspelling ignorance! I like things that bring our nation together, but prayer? Maybe we could legally say that it singles out us atheists and demand that the name be change to something like "National day of hope". I could live with that.

I've read many times that sick people who are prayed for recover at a significantly more desirable rate, even when they're unaware of the prayers. I think our thoughts create reality. That's why they have do use double blind studies in testing. If the test givers know who is getting the placebo and who is getting the real pill, it changes the results of the testing and invalidates it. It is always happening, but we deny it to ourselves and block it out. We don't want to accept responsibility for this reality. And who could blame us. It's a shame and a disgrace. I can't imagine what makes us call ourselves intelligent. Oh, we do have potential. We can, but we don't. Oh well, no one hates a Caterpillar just because it is not yet a butterfly.
On National Prayer Day, I think we should all pray for sense. That would serve Bush right.

I never heard of that before. I had to Wikipedia it.
Man, you live in a phucked up country. Very sad.
Why not a national day to wish upon a star, or a national day to cross your fingers and hope.
EDIT:
CHRISTIAN#3412 No they didn't. There is no such study, please cite a reference. Don't just repeat urban legends as gospel....Oh wait, that's EXACTLY what your religion is based on.
SETH A They (meaning actual scientists) have done double blind studies of prayer, and it was shown to have no effect at all. The most recent a couple years ago with heart patients. The group who was TOLD they were being prayed for, actually did WORSE, by a small percentage.

CHRISTIAN#3412 that's what we rational people call providing a reference and not just making things up

Good question! IMO, this goes against what the Constitution says about the SEPARATION of Church and State. Bush panders to the religious right ONLY for appearances...he is using them just like Hitler used the Germans with the Catholic church.

a million. i particularly do not care in the event that they pray in colleges. My new child is conscious God and likes to prefer. I would desire to take accountability for my own new child. 2. i particularly do not care if the ten Commandments are displayed in courtroom homes and public homes. i've got faith in them. it particularly is all that concerns. 3. i particularly do not care what they attempt to coach my new child at school. The bible says teach your babies interior the way they might desire to go and while they're previous they are going to return to it.

It was actually medically proven that people who believed in God lived longer than expected in hospital beds.

God is spirit and we worship God in spirit and in truth. I believe this is a daily activity. Singling out one day for prayer, denies the rest.
