We have the same problem. It seems coffee and some other drinks containing caffeine stimulates acid secretion in the stomach. This can cause pain especially in those with stomach ulcers.
What I do is I would stop drinking coffee for a few days, maybe take some antacids. Then I slowly resume coffee and I make sure I don't drink it on an empty stomach or without something to eat, could be a cookie, brownies or even bread. I couldn't give it up, coffee adds feeling to my life.

Unless the pain is present, whether you are drinking coffee or not, I would tend to rule out an ulcer. An ulcer will definitely let you know if it is there because it won't matter what you are eating or drinking, the pain is there. It is most likely the caffeine in the coffee that is upsetting your stomach. Find something else to drink that is caffeine free, like water.

Yes stop drinking coffee. You probably drink a lot of espresso's too not one shot but triple shots. Well it's causing your stomach to have ulcers and the coffee is now irritating it. You can drink weaker coffee but not too strong if you want to stay warm maybe try decafe coffee or espresso it's out there.

Try giving it up for few days. If you feel better and tummy is not sore then give up the Starbucks. Are you a coffee addict? If so then try tea or find a friend and quit together.
Good luck.

Logic would say if something hurts, stop doing it...
Perhaps you should stay off the coffee for a day or so an then try having a cup again and see how your stomach is...if it hurts again, try talking to your dr...

Tannin in it!! I have same problem. I can't drink tea because it has Tannin in it too. Read up on Tannin. It is an astringent. I stopped drinking both and cramps went away completely.

Make sure you eat something before or during your first cup. Also, they say it's not healthy to drink more than 4 cups per day.
