Is it because it is an angry religion? Or is it because black wanted a religion from Africa? Another reason? Why did black have to modify it to fit them (nation of Islam?)

Many African-Americans are converting to Islam because they sense a serious disconnect between themselves and mainstream Christianity, which is largely dominated by white evangelicals who typically promote agendas that are more or less racist in concept and in action.

Well i am African American and first off i would like to say that all races deserve to referred to by what they are, American, being a person of multiple racial backgrounds i highly belive in this fact i have just stated. Islam does not really appeal to me. I don't find anger something that i want to associate praising God with. I think so many African American people are turning to Islam because of the return of the return to Africa movement that is rising up. The modification of the religion is yet another mistake by man of taking the original word of God and changing it. That is how all religions were created and that is why the nations of the world were created, man's control issues. "Tower of Babel"

I'll probably get alot of thumbs-downs for this answer, but this information was actually given to me by a muslim black guy.
There are alot of african-american men in the US prison system. I'm not going to take up time here to discuss social issues and the reasons behind this, but it is a proven fact. A friend of mine, who is both black and muslim, spent almost ten years of his life in a correctional facility. If you practice islam, you are eligible for certain things that others arent ... for example, you get special food during Ramadan, you get to celebrate Malcolm X's birthday ... and by converting to Islam, you get a whole crew of guys who don't play around that are automatically watching your back.
My friend got involved in the religion for this reason, but actually got something out of it, and still practices it today.

It is because Islam states that all races are equal, They started the Nation of Islam as a way to say that white people are devils, after Malcom X went to pilgrimage to mecca, and saw that Muslims are white, black and every race, and tried to preach about it, he got assassinated.

black or not many people turn to Islam..because its pure
its the fastest growing religion. i dont see how race has to do with converting to a religion..
many of the teachings in the nation of Islam do not follow the true teachings of Islam.

because some people are not stupid and ignorant of Islam's genuine reason as you imagine we are. it really is the rustic, no longer the U. S. I wonder if has anything to do with the tragically large numbers of black men in U.S. prisons? I have heard that muslims do a lot of evangelizing in prisons... just a guess.

Very sad to see them go to that false religion.
Its like they areso easily swayed by stuff like voodoo, and all that weird stuff. They like are sucked in very easily. So we have to pray for there salvation because people like Lewis Ferikan is causing them to hate, and hate spreds like a cancer.
