i packed on a freshmen 20 last year. Since the beginning of summer I lost the 20, plus 15 pounds. I live on my own, so things are probably different. I don't buy junk food or anything that I'm going to over eat. If I don't buy it, I wont eat it. So now, since I don't' have any temptations around, I don't over eat..because who wants to over eat healthy food, right? lol.
I also walk a LOT, and usually work out with weights and jog (but I've been so busy, i kind of lost track of that...). Pilates is a life saver too... maybe not for you though ;) ...it's not THAT girly. lol
Diets usually don't work. Whenever I have been on a diet, I end up gaining weight because I'm always thinking about food, I end up binge eating instead of eating less. Or I have lost a lot of weight, but as soon as I went off the diet I gained it all back, plus some. If you want to really loose weight, it has to be a lifestyle change. Do what makes you feel healthy and work out!!

You are a guy so as far as i know it'll be much easier for you. Try to control your portion sizes if you find that you currently eat too much. Either have 3 regular sized meals, breakfast being the most important or have 6 small meals, whatever works for you. Eat fruits, veggies, complex carbs (whole grains), low fat dairy and lean meats. Exercise!!!!!....it will help you lose faster, but make sure you are eating enough to be able to workout, otherwise you can fall sick. Cardio and lifting weights, before you know it, you will a hot sexy body...also drink lots of water.

ive been on my diet since jan. 1st, and ive managed to lose 45 pounds...starting at 320 and now at 275...what i do have the healthy foods that you really like...for me i have a whole lot of patatos, with the patatos i just put a lil bit of salsa on it, and call it good. Egg whites are another thing that i eat a lot of, they taste fine without the yolk i think, usually have that in a sandwich form, some whole wheat bread, lettuce, mustard. also have low fat sandwich meat to make sandwiches. and just have a lot of lettuce around so you can make salads/use for sandwiches...and for exercise just do something you enjoy that keeps your heart rate up...for me its dance dance revolution, dancin for about an hour a day does it good for me...but if you like basketball, then go play ball for an hour a day, or whatever you like that is active...good luck.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

ahah! here's a good tips for you.
exercise everyday like jogging around the block
skip meals. dont eat until your're full
eat fruits at night if your hungry.
drinks lots of water and stop all the fast food and chocolate.
