only human beings are given descriminating capacity. meaning of descrimination means choosing between two or more thoughts. i.e. a choice is given. it is not fight between devil or spirit of god.

based on any kind of situation the thoughts arise, whether to cross the road or not, whether to get up now from the bed or later, whether to have bath in cold water or hot water. etc., etc., based on the situation the decision is taken by the mind. any decision which is taken without a guilt in mind should be mostly correct. however, easiest way is follow the path of truthfullness, the decisions will be very easy eventhough it will be tough to be truthful.

"Our two minds .... One is an act of the emotional
mind, the other of the rational mind. In a very real
sense we have two minds, one that thinks and one that
feels" (Daniel Goleman, Emotional Intelligence,
Bloomsbury Publishing, London, 1996, page 8).

The Upanishads call the emotional component of mind as
Chitta and the rational component of mind as Manas. In
general, women excel in Chitta and men excel in Manas.
Men have the ability to transcend the limitations of
Manas and activate the higher component of mind Buddhi
(intellect or wisdom) which deals with philosophical
thinking. Very few women can activate this component.

Try thinking out of the box a little more. There are always more than 2 ways to think about something. If you want proof, just look at how many versions of christianity are out there. If All Islamics thought the same way, then there wouldn't be so much conflict in the middle east.

This issue is well explained in Hindu Philosophy.

As long as human beings are tuned to the exteranal world which is 'maya' or 'illusion' thoghts will keep coming and going. The moment one suceeds ( by true meditation or treading on the well founded spiritual path ) in tuning to his own inner soul there cannot be thought of any kind only 'peace' or at the highest level you may say 'BLISS'.

Note: These are my opinions please do not take them personally.

This wolrd is based on the principle of duality.
It is not possible that only one thing can exist. Means you cannot say that I want coins only with Heads. When you chose a coin, you will have Heads and Tails both.
So it is not possible that only peace, happiness, good will exist. Cruelty, sorrow, poverty will always be there.
Day cannot be recognised without night and same way happiness cannot be recognised without sorrow.
They come hand in hand.
Nature has to maintain the balance and it does that without any mistake.
You chose one and other comes by defualt.

You only have 2? I am constantly coming up with alternatives to anything and everything. I think it's just your imagination. When it is the Spirit of the Lord, you will know it.

That would be your soul(ego, mind) and your spirit. We are 3 parts: body, mind(soul) and spirit. Your spirit is kinda like the receiving bay for packages from heaven. When the Holy Spirit talks with you it'll be with your spirit. Your spirit then speaks with your soul so the brain can understand it. So your two thoughts will sometimes agree and sometimes disagree. We notice the disagreeing ones more by the way, they are the more intrusive ones. But as you practice listening you will find they speak to each other when your soul is in agreement as well.

As you focus on this you will come to realize that your soul is the thought that seems to want to gratify itself, and after listening to it you don't always feel so hot. This is because your soul is the seat of sin, when the Apostle Paul talks about sin being in the flesh, and not always doing what He wants to do but what He doesn't want to do. The more we satisfy our own longing, the souls longing, the mind and egos longing we deafen the ears of the spirit. So you see that it is good that you have two thoughts, you aren't completely deaf yet.

The key here,THE key, is that when you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, that He is seated in the Heavenly Realms around us, and confess out loud that He is Lord, He pours out His Spirit, and it physically, PHYSICALLY, takes a place in you, remaking your spirit, being born again, anew, reborn. You then have a Spirit of God, you can literally call yourself a child of God, because scripture says that what is born of the Spirit is Spirit, and the same Spirit that rose Christ from the grave lives in the believer. The SAME Spirit. Same Spirit. Do you understand the power in a believer? It is the power of God Himself at work in us.

It gets better...when you have the Spirit of God our Father Himself living in you, the tangable heavenly material of God Himself in you, you have authority. His Spirit waits for you to speak life, creation, because God Himself spoke the universe into being. When you are walking in His love you can do all things through Him who gives you strength! All things. Anything. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world! The power of words, they have the power to speak life and death. I urge you to seek after that which the world in its own wisdom has thrown to the side. The ability to walk with God Himself. The perfect one, Jesus Himself, is our High Priest in the Heavens, and when you are born of the Spirit, you are actually grafted into His body. In the same way that the Spirit of God lives in you, we live in Him! That is Christianity friend. I give you pearls.

Your existence in this world is a result of the combination of two, soul and physical body. On one side, you want to fulfill all desires of your body senses, while on other side you want to know the truth about you, which is said to be achieved by leaving behind all the desires. This is the main conflict, all other conflicts are sub.

The nature of the mind is twofold
1.Sankalpa(accepting favorable to material or spiritual)
2.Vikalpa(rejecting unfavorable to material or spiritual)

If one is more materialistic the mind will have more material thoughts and thus accept material thoughts and reject the spiritual thoughts and vice versa if one is spiritual in nature.
