So the Bible has to be a science book in order to be accurate? You expect God, thousands of years ago, to have taught early humans science? Check your logic on that. God gave us his word to reveal himself, not to teach us about science.

Do you know the difference between revelation and science?
The bible is the word of God as spoken by the prophets. That is what the bible says. You can believe it or not.
Science has theories that explain facts. (Scientific method). Is there a scientific theory about God. No.
I will use revealed knowledge found in the bible. God existed before he created everything you can observe. That means God is unobservable as well as observable. If there was a scientific theory about God it would need facts about unobservable. A fact is an observation by persons independent of location. A scientific theory about God would require observations of the unobservable. There are no "God" facts.
Evidence (reasonable), wrong, disproves all come from science which have no weight on revelation or the bible. People get into trouble when they use scientific method applied to revelation.
Atheism (without theism) is nothing more than the disbelief. The atheist hears the revelation and does not believe it. Atheism know about the bible and does not believe it. Nothing more.
Answer: The bible is revelation and within its pages states that is the word of God as spoken by the prophets. The bible is not a scientific nor historical book; it does not need any observation by men. God reveals, man observes.
[Protestant] Christianity uses the Christian bible as its sole authority. It needs nothing else. Maybe you will take time to study it.

I think it's a good question. There isn't really an explanation for believing in the Bible. Some answers say "faith" is the reason they believe, but faith relates to believing in God - it doesn't relate to believing that the Bible is true. God could still exist without a book. I am truly interested to know why people accept that the Bible is the Word of God. Why people accept that a 2000 year old book is authentic, in the sense that it is all true. And I'm sure some people reading this question will try to use the Bible to prove the authenticity of the Bible. It's extremely faulty logic.
So the question remains, why do people just blindly accept that the book they rely on is genuine? Other than being raised to read and study the Bible, there isn't a reason.

You can't ONLY look for evidence AGAINST the Bible. Look at both sides. Weigh ALL the facts. There are a LOT of things that science has said "there's no proof of this" and then accidently proved, like King Nebechadnezzar, or specific currencies, or geographic locations.
With enough scientific proof to make one thing look like it's not, I can prove that I'm not really sitting here. But weighed against the fact that I AM sitting here, all that evidence is worthless.
Look at ALL the facts man.
As for WHY people believe that the Bible is God's Word, there are many reasons. Most people have had personal experiences, some people have reasoned everything out and came to the conclusion that the Bible is inspired by God and is pure, true, and holy, and still some believe it blindly. Take your pick, there's even more reasons.

If the bible can and has been disproven, please do tell in what ways. Also if you can prove it can you list where you found this information. The source of this information plays a large role in the disproving of the bible. Also your views as an aethiest will lead you to believe this, so this "evidence" is highly backed by your views. I would also like to ask what made you stop believing because i saw on another question the you were a Christian. What happened?

The answer is much more complicated than you'd like. My answer is only a path you can take to research the full answer.
Man is born with a desire to be more than what he is. Almost everyone wants to be the "prettiest" girl or the star athlete. Given this nature, man created God to answer some of out unanswerable questions like how were we created. To have an ultimate being create us is so much easier to contemplate than a singularity that created matter which cooled into a galaxy with our solar system in it. If you do meditate on that thought, you might conclude that it is far more improbable that a divine being is created from nothing than a myriad of matter being created that lead to our creation.
Another path to the truth is to look at what living conditions were like around the time that man created God. Surely God was a story long before we could write. If were living back then, you wouldn't know anything about plate tectonics, so you might attribute an earthquake to a divine being that is upset.

because alot of people put their faith in what others tell them to put their faith in. mainly to be accepted into their local society.
Not saying that all "x-tians" are hypocrits, some really do believe and have faith in it.
Where I come from, there are only a few people who are strong willed enough to stand up for themselves and say that they are not christians. I am one of these people. The majority says that we will go to hell, burn, rot, and whatever else. And we ask them how their hangovers are, how are their illegitimate children, how are their mistresses, and how are their drug habits coming.
That book is a fine piece of fiction, it is a wonderful read, I have read it several times myself and will read it again.
It also says in the bible that christians are supposed to be humble servants of the lord god almighty, most of the christians I see are aweful know-it-alls who try and force their beliefs down the rest of the world's throats. And when it is not accepted and thrown back in their faces, they do not turn the other cheek, they get angry and attack you verbally.
I'll tell you the secret of religion as I have come to understand it.
There is NO one right way, there is NO one wrong way. The answer is, be good to each other and to yourself.
there are a lot of people killing each other right now that could benefit from that advice.......on both sides.

So your standard for forming an opinion is to do a search and scan some materials on line?
How about spending a few years formally studying Greek, Hebrew, philosophy, logic, theology, science, mathematics, and physics?
Investigation will reveal that there exists **NO SINGLE SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY** that has been shown to prove error, factually or doctrinally, in the Bible. There is plenty of speculation and hypotheses, but not a single verifiable fact.
To make this claim alone is quite a feat for ancient texts, but when you add to it the fact that the Bible was written over more than 1,500 years by forty vastly different writers, yet every book in the Bible is consistent in its message. These 66 books talk about history, prophecy, poetry, and theology.
No human beings could have planned such an intricate combination of books over a 1,500-year time span. Bible manuscripts (remember, there were no printing presses until 1455) have survived despite weather, persecution and time. Most ancient writings written on weak materials like papyrus have vanished all together. Yet many copies of the Old Testament scriptures survived. For instance, the Dead Sea Scrolls contain all books of the Old Testament, except Esther, and have been dated to before the time of Christ. Consider Julius Caesar’s Gallic Wars. Only ten copies written about 1,000 years after the event are in existence. In comparison, there are over 24,000+ New Testament manuscripts, the earliest one dating to within 24 years after Christ.
The Bible also validates its divine authorship through fulfilled prophecies. An astonishing 668 prophecies have been fulfilled and none have ever been proven false (three are unconfirmed).
An honest study of biblical prophecy will compellingly show the divine authorship of the Bible. Further, archeology confirms (or in some cases supports) accounts in the biblical record. No other holy book comes close to the Bible in the amount of evidence supporting its divine authorship.
Few fail to realize this and show their lack of knowledge in the historicity of the Bible by objecting when folks use the bible to support their own positions. While no one objects when a journal article or some popular book or media piece is quoted, there is always lots of flippant commentary when Christians use the bible as a reference.
When I examine the evidence on both sides, I can only rationally conclude that given the bible's accuracy on so many issues, I have no reason to doubt its validity on all issues it contains, especially when it speaks to God's divine revelations.
To learn how the books of the bible came to be assembled as such see: http://gbgm-umc.org/umw/bible/canons.stm
Catholic and Episcopal bibles have the same number of canonical books. The Catholic and Episcopal bible also includes some non-canonical books, grouped as the Apocrypha.
Many versions of the bible existed before the King James and the advent of mass printing. See: http://www.greatsite.com/timeline-english-bible-history/

You're not going to be able to reason with these people. They were brainwashed as children and as such have a warped perception of reality. They do not accept facts that disprove their beliefs and maintain that God exists or the Bible is true on what they call "faith," but what everyone else calls "blindness." Their blind acceptance of the Bible as true because it tells them it is has painted their perception of reality and distorts any evidence you show them.
We should not be judge these people harshly. The poor things were simply raised this way and do not know better. We should try to steer them in the right direction slowly, little by little, and if they are a lost cause move on to someone else.

Tell, me, how does science disprove the Bible. The Bible says that God created everything. PROVE THAT FACT WRONG!!!!! It's hard huh? Evolution is false, because there is no way, that DNA exist by itself. It is so intricately woven in every part of our lives that there is no way that the world could continue to revolve and do things on its own. There had to have been an Intelegent Designer. God's the only one intelligent that I know of.
