The pain is really quick. I just had a lot of dental work done. While the pain is there, it's also really quick and think about what would happen if you don't get dental work done because you're afraid of the needle. It's much worse. You don't want to be even slightly closer on path towards being a bum. You know what I'm sayin'? Those bums you see on the streets, they've got really bad teeth. Bums have the WORST dentists because THOSE dentists, they don't use needles, what THEY use is a rock and slingshot standing 5 feet away. Seriously.
Good luck with that. There are alternatives but just do it, be like nike, just do it

Needles are always a downfall at the dentist. What I find helps in not feeling it, I have the dentist shake the skin where he will be inserting the needle, it kinda takes the pain away, or numbs you from feeling it. Also the needle is of your least worries man.....you are getting a tooth PULLED out from its socket. Even thats not such a big deal. Many recuperate overnight. Just relax yourself, listen to some music you like while its happening.

First the "needle does not really hurt much at all, they usually use a local and numb the area where it goes in before the injection. Second the "pain" you will feel is minimal and once the area is dead you are good to go! If oral surgery you are not awake long enough to feel the IV. The main thing is close your eyes and don't watch the needle the dentist uses because it looks much worse than a regular Dr. office.

i've had 6 teeth pulled (2 babies, 2 adults on the top and 2 on the bottom) so i've gone through all the pain possible! if the tooth your getting pulled is on the bottom then your lucky, cuz the needles you get on the roof of your mouth hurt the most. But the numbing kicks in really quick so theres only like 30 seconds of pain. Its not as bad as it seems! it'll be over and done with before you know it =) have fun!

I don't know how you know you need a tooth extraction....If you were like me, you knew from the searing diabling pain that shoots to your brain for hour blocks at a time. At this point, you should be begging them to stick the needle in your mouth, just remember your mouth goes numb after a couple of seconds of the the sweet sweet medicine, and no more pain! whoo hoo
All though I do have to say, in spite of how badly it hurt and I wanted it pulled, it did sting pretty well when I got the shot. They have to stick a big ol needle way down in your gum at the base of your tooth and it feels like it's going to come out the side of your face. But it only lasts for a second.
Once your mouth goes numb, trust me, you cannot feel them pull your tooth at all. I felt absolutely nothing and then all of a sudden my tooth was out.
Good luck and don't be scared.

Won't you be knocked out anyway? They usually do that with gas.
Anyway if not, the needle looks big and scary, but it doesn't hurt much at all. Just as it starts to hurt, it goes numb and you don't feel much at all except a sense of pressure when they're pulling out your tooth.

They can give you a local anesthetic to numb the area where the needle goes in so that you do not feel it. Also just close your eyes when the doc says that he is going to give you the shot.
Buck up. You can do it.

i have the most gentle dentist. he usually uses a topical numbing med so that when he inserts the needle you don't feel it. ask your dentist about this. also a med to calm you down may help also. i am usually white knuckled till i realize i just need to relax cause all is fine. dentistry is so much more advanced than it used to be.

I've had 2 root canals in the last couple of months, they hurt pretty bad.
but check this out, it'll only hurt for a day or so, and you'll get some really good pills that'll make you feel really happy.
