Try crushing aspirin and applying it to the affected area. Also there is a pressure point behind the earlobe that will pinch off feeling to the teeth enough to ease the pain. I had a BAD BAD tooth that I had to do the nerve thing to and the aspirin so I could go to sleep. Put your finger behind the ear where the ear, jaw scalp all meet. and press there, you should feel a difference even by pressing a small amount.

I'm a dental hygienist in practice for over 20 years and I'd love to answer you. First off...DO NOT put an aspirin directly on the affected tooth or gum area. Aspirin is salicylic ACID, this will cause an ulcer on the gum and make his problems worse. He can take any form of Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil), that works best for dental pain. I don't recommend using heat, that draws more blood to the area and will increase swelling, not decrease it. An ice pack applied to the outside of the face near the area is better. This won't go away on it's own...he really needs to see the dentist very soon before it gets worse.

Old home remedy my great-grandmother taught me. Take a sock and put some rice in it. Tie the sock up and place it in the microwave for about 1½ mins. then place the sock on the jaw where the tooth is hurting. When I have a toothache I do this technique as well as switch up between Aleve and Advil. One kills the pain the other reduces inflammation.

Hope this helps.

ps...clean socks work best! lol

try nurofen plus from their website www.nurofenplus.com it's got 12.8mg codeine & 200mg of ibuprofen. It's really cheap to buy and I haven't had an issue with it. They also have a really good shipping guarantee where they will guarantee that they get it through customs.
