I took everything that reminded me of her and I either threw it away or I kept it somewhere that would take some time to find because the worst thing is to reminisce about those times. Seriously, I mean, if you're looking at the things that you've given each other, then those were probably the good times. The problem is when you remember the good times, you overlook how awful the bad times were. It took a while and I even made the mistake of watching some sad movies like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," which was a break-up movie essentially and also I saw some films that we used to both like but something like a break-up really took some time and that's what I did, I took some time and let go. Eventually I was over it but I think if you don't think about it or you just totally ignore it, it'll probably hit you at some point later on and it'll just feel miserable. Think about it and think about what happened but let there be a balance, if that's what you're going through.

Good luck!

Aww Your first breakup is the worst.I remember mine...I was so upset I cried for days and I didn't want to do anything. Finally my Mom was like enough! She dragged me out of bed and told me that I was gorgeous & young and that there was soo many other guys out there for me to meet that I just needed to get up and move on.What used to help me was going out with friends and doing whatever kept me busy so that it kept my mind off thinking about it.Everyday it gets a little better and after awhile you wont even be thinking about your ex and you'll be meeting someone new!So just try not to let it stress you out too much honey!

honestly i sat in my house for many months and did nothing! I knew that if I went out, I would do all the wrong things...my heart was broke and I wasn't in the emotional state to go out and be in a social environment yet! I wanted to be good and not do anything that I would regret! Finally after many months of being sad, I started going out and doing good things with good people and then I started dating again! It was hard, but it was fun to get to know someone and have a fresh begining!

Cried for days and got really drunk. Didn't go to class either. After a few months I was okay. It helps to have sex with other people. It may be hard at first, you keep thinking of your ex, but it eventually gets easier and becomes more fun. Wow, I don't wish I was 19 again but it was fun!

Very badly. I dumped her, but not before I lost my self respect and died a thousand little deaths. It was 25 years ago, I think about her every day, I have never been as deeply in love since. If you love a damaged person, the damage will spread to you like a virus.

I had an extremely hard time getting over my first love. It took me 2 years. You have to put yourself first. Hang out with friends, do whatever it is you enjoy to keep your mind occupied. Don't try to be friends. It only makes it harder. It will get easier as time goes on. Good luck.

I was with this broad for almost 3 years before she kicked me to the curb. I worked out everyday; got myself ready to get put on the market so to speak. I blocked all communications (email, cel phone, instant msngr).
I spent a ton of time with my buddies and laughed about it. TIME will take its tour.
Say hello to every woman you cross paths with and you will suddenly forget your ex. Good luck bro!

I got dumped and because I was hurting I tried to hurt the person. I acted like a physho *****. I just ended up feeling worse. I was disappointed in myself because I didn't think I would've reacted like that.

ohhhh GOD, it took me like almost a year...it just takes time dude...that's all i gotta say. Some people deal with it differently than others - people will go out and forget it ever happen, and some will just reflect. Either way it doesn't speed the chances of decreasing pain...it's all time.

I cryed my eyes out in my pillow so nobody could see me. Then I played tough and acted like it didn't bother me. "I was tough!!"
Then I went home and cryed again--alone--in my pillow so nobody could see me.
It is the worse feeling in the world. Crushed, die, smothered, suffercated, I just can't go on with all the words.... but I do promise it does get better. I know it doesn't feel like it now, but I promise it does. XXXXXOOOO JLS
