If everything in the bible still stood, EXCEPT for the aspect of heaven and hell (which means, you don't go anywhere when you die)....would you still believe in God and pray to him?

Nah. Man created God out of fear - fear of death, fear of losing control, fear of being powerless, fear of being mistaken. God was going to "save" everyone. If there was no heaven I doubt anyone would have made him up. What would be the use?

Abby: Dear Abby ( I, just had to say it) ! Anyways; I am a Christian, and I do not believe in either, the religious dogma [doctrine] of "going to heaven at death" nor ever, "going to an ever-burning hell fire". When one does a in-depth research on these concepts, he or she will find that these concepts can not be found in the pages of the Holy Bible. Believe it or not; these doctrines were both, started with the ancient Egyptians to use to induce fear (fear religion) into the masses, to control them. Later on in history, the Greeks adopted the idea too and used it to exercise control over the masses. The Bible is plain on death. When a human dies, they simply, go into the grave - (remember what God told Adam and Eve: see: Genesis chapter 3, verse 19 - from dust you came back to dust you will go) ! God was very clear on death here, no mention of an immortal soul going to heaven nor a ever-burning hell fire. There are many more misconceptions that religion says "that the Bible says" - but it really don't. Lots of bad theology and dysfunctional religion out there. As a Christian, all I can say is, "the truth will set you free" !
I pray to God and I believe Him - even, all the more !!!

P.S. "Blessed are the meek. for they shall inherit the EARTH (not heaven) " Jesus is coming back to the earth !!!

That is like asking, "If the earth wasn't here, would you still live on it?"
Without heaven and hell, everything else in the Bible would fall because the whole point of why God gave us the Scriptures is to tell us our past and future and how He saved us from eternal condemnation. However, heaven is the place where God dwells. I do not know where people got the idea that we go there because that is not what the Bible teaches. Revelation chapters 20-22 state clearly that after the Judgement, heaven and earth will pass away in fire, and God will create a new earth where we will dwell with Him forever. Don't believe me? Look it up in any Bible.

Heaven is where God is and hell is where God is not. Earth is where we are. Revelation is just that. It is all or nothing. Take away heaven and hell, then where is God?

Your treat the bible as if the contents can be piecemeal, we can pick and choose. Within the pages of the bible is all we know about God. The bible is not a scientific or historical book, but is the Word of God spoken through the prophets.

If you examine it, the bible will existed after everything you can observe is no longer.

God is spirit and we worship God in spirit and in truth.

There are religions that do not have a Heaven in them. There are religions without Hell. One tends most often to believe what the were brought up with, or what they stumble into when looking for some sort of security.

Religion is the ultimate support group for some. Atheism is a support group of just the same sort for some too.

Probably anybody who chooses to argue for or against religions is seeking some sort of support. Except the Mormons, they're all flipping nuts.

Yes I would because he is still the creator of the universe and he created us in his own image and he loves us for who we are so in my opinion how could you not worship and pray to someone who does something as wonderful as that? Plus think about it ...... if there wasn't a heaven or a hell then what would the point of life be? why would we be here in the first place and how did we get here? so obviosly that isn't gonna happen there always was and always will be a heaven and a hell : )

Your question is so gooood! Thank you for that perspective, I do not think I have ever seen it that way. I am very honest so my answer is HELL NO! I would care less, the only reason i do what i do is that there is gold at the end of the rainbow, if there was not, then **** all of it. I think that is how all feel, it is just they do not have the guts to come out with it! Must be scardy cats! Especially the guys, and some of the evil women.

Why? I mean what would be the point. If you knew that no matter how bad you lived you would still just die and that would be the end of it, why would there be a reason to believe in anything?

if it were told in the bible, that there is no heaven nor hell, Christians would certainly pray to god.
