Just looking for a year, using web sites and family/government records I have traced ancestors back to 1100 AD. Just wondering how far back anyone is able to go.

I have confirmed the ancestory back to the 1500's, to the parents of Robert Cushman, the other 400 years I have names and dates of births and deaths but I need to confirm the data with further records.

One branch back to the 1500's, another to 1600, the rest to about 1700. I only was able to get to the 1500's by having a few famous people in the line who had their family histories published in the olden times. It took years and years and letter after letter. I had no idea the web was that powerful, none of my ancestors must have had computers.

i wonder are you connected to the devinci code. You will be able to trace your ancestor back to a time when language was a barrier and people wrote on cave walls, it really depends on where your ancestors originated from. 1100 AD sound like china which is said to be the second place of the start of civilization, Africa being the first. i would really like to know how you accomplished this. i have only traced my family back to 1700 AD

Only back to the 1700's personally but I guess you might be able to trace back to about 1000 or so maybe if you are of European descent that is, if the records still exist for the particular region your folks are from. But that's really awesome, I never heard of anyone go further back than that.
Oh wait yeah I have, this man in England I think, found out he was related to a cave-man body they found but I dunno if he had every other relative after that.

I have a couple of branches back to the 1500's, but prior to that the trail runs dry. I always marvel at people that can get back before that, so consider yourself officially marveled for the day. Oh wise one... can you tell us your ways??
Seriously, pat yourself on the back. That is an INCREDIBLE feat.
