Is it ok to take mucinex dm and soma?

Mucinex dm is an expectorant. It facilitates coughing out thick mucous thereby clearing respiratory tract. Uses for productive cough
Soma is an antitussive and suppresses cough reflex. Used for dry hacking unproductive cough.
This combination though being used , is unscientific and pharmacologically incompatible.
One to facilitate cough and other to supress cough?
