I've been having serious mental and emotional problems since I've returned from my 13 month tour in Iraq. I don't know what direction to go without spreading my personal business all up and down the chain of command in my reserve unit. I'm also afraid that if I share what my problems are they might send me somewhere that might interfere with my civilian job. What should I do?

Contact the VA they will be able to help or at least point you in the right direction.

Here are some useful websites and some of these have good self help guides also. You don't have to tell your unit, all you have to do is have your DD214 and copy of your orders from your tour of duty in Iraq and all the help should be free.

Isn't there a service psychologist? I am sure that you are not the only person experiencing that and they have to be ready to heal wounds that are not visible as well as those that are. Maybe you can make an anonymous call to Walter Reed.

Go to the VA.

BTW - depending on your job you may be required to report these issues. I have had to have the psychologists who are treating my PTSD provide information to my company's customers and the US government because I work in a sensitive position.

No private practice psychologists adhere to strict patient/client confidentiality. Go find a local private practice psychologist who'll listen to you and who'll help you work through it rather then sticking you on medication which doesnt work for ****!!!

Good luck!
