Hi, its great that you are trying to take care of yourself BUT, if you are sore in lets just say the upper body then skip the next day or even 2 until your not as sore and just work out the lower body, You need to switch it up when you work out, upper body 1 day and lower the next. But until your are used to working out you might have to work out every other day, You do NOT want to hurt yourself. Trust me you can do more harm then good trying to blast your body into shape. Take it slow and the payoff will be wonderfull!!! If you have the $ seek a personal trainer but if not then listen to your body. I know that there are many gyms that give you a month or so of free personal training to get you started just for using their gym. Shop around BUT read the contract before you sign it!. Congrats on your new lifestyle but be carefull and LISTEN to your body. Best of Luck!

NO NO NO...
"no pain, no gain" How wrong that is!!!

when your muscles are sore it is because they are healing, when you workout you actually creat small tears in the muscle fibers, and thus thus need to heal before you do it again.

You will do much more damage than good by overworking sore muscles.

One thing that helps is to massage the muscles deeply, this stimulates bloodflow into the fibers and actually helps with the soreness.

Nope, you are asking for an injury though. You need time for your muscles to heal before doin another workout, sometimes it can take a few days, so I suggest you wait until its just about alright and workout again.

No. Over training causes you to lose muscle. You don't need to work each body part any more than twice a week. A lot of people do three sets for each body part, but now they say one set is just as effective.

No. Rest the musckles in between workouts so the tissue can repair itself. Working out stretches the tissue in your muscles, so you have to give them time to repair themselves. That is why most workout info says to work out with weights every other day or to work on different muscular groups each day.

No. Your body needs time to rest when sore. However if just one part of your body is sore, for instance your arms, the you can work your legs, or do some cardio. Make sure you stay hydrated, but not over hydrated.

No, you will gain less if you gain at all. Overworked muscles won't grow. Your muscles grow at rest not in the gym.

You obviously need a trainer to help you understand the cycles of which part of the body to work and when.
