because thay take the bible as the literal truth, when it is not. even the late pope john paul II said that evolution is fine to teach. how do they compete with that?

everyone has it so backwards evolution was first discovered by a priest doing scientific work classifying beetles he noticed it and got the cred.now the problem is that evolution is a reality but not the way a lot of schools teach it.man did not come from a monkey he came from a man. think of it like this if it was so great to become a man then why are there any monkeys at all. God made us to adapt to our surroundings and things that can't do that die out .it's really not hard to understand and religion is bad and it gives power to the wrong people instead of God.so is teaching it wrong better than not at all - yes because again it muddles the truth and makes people confused.plus evolution has some pretty big holes in it to that's where the missing link gets involved.i hope this helps.

Slightly more than half of the American people reject evolution. During the last decade, the General Social Survey conducted by National Opinion Research Center (and directed by my colleague Dr. Tom M. Smith) has asked whether a respondent thinks that humans are descended from animals. Fifty-two percent said that either this was definitely not true or probably not true.
Ever since they won the battle but lost the war in the Scopes trial of 1925, conservative Christians have waged an intensive war against evolution. Despite repeated court decisions insisting that evolution must be taught in high school classes, the conservative Christians have managed to keep one form or another of "creationism" alive and well as an alternative in the minds of many Americans -- including 62 percent of African-American Christians, 52 percent of mainline Protestants, 42 percent of Catholics and 26 percent of Jews. (Seventy-eight percent of Conservative Christians reject evolution).
Evolution, they insist, is only a theory and one that has a lot of holes in it. Moreover, it is godless, indeed it is part of an assault by a liberal elite on the beliefs of a god-fearing people. Their assaults are especially effective in smaller towns and rural areas where teachers and school administrators are subject to strong pressure from these God-fearing people. For their own protection, many teachers, according to a recent article in the New York Times, skip over the chapters on evolution in the biology textbook. In Cobb County Georgia, they forced the schools to put a sticker on the cover of a textbook asserting that "intelligent design" was an equally valid theory.

Listen to my answer. This evolution thing is really tricky for some school and a lot of people put up an uproar because they believe that evolution is a contridiction of biblical teaching. They believe that created man and "poof" thats it. They dont believe God created something that evolved...but they may be wrong.
There is a Rabbi named Rabbi Solomon ben Yitzaki. His nickname is Rashi. He translated the original bible (written in Jesus' language of Arameic) from Arameic to Hewbrew. The Hewbrew bible is the second oldest bible. Now here is were it gets good. Rashi says that there is waaaaaaaaay too much lost in translation. Our American bible (KJV) says that God breathed life into Adam. When the word Adam is used in the Hebrew bible, Adam means soil. The Hebrew bible used the name Adoma (Adam), and this Adoma literally translate to "the creeping life in the soil." This is unarguable. Please research this and find out yourself. So evolution is evolution mentioned in the bible? Possibly. But because some factions or less educated people beleive otherwise, they just try to rid themselves of this contridictory teaching rather than try to understand it.

Because evolution theory contradicts the Bible, as well as sound science.
The question could be asked "why is it un-atheistic to teach creation in biology class?"
Why shouldn't we take God at His word and understand His account of our origins?

It is actually "un-Christian" to have a "biology class" whereby the responsibility of teaching is passed from parents to the state or even to a private institution. The Lord has instructed *parents* to be the teachers of their children. And, of course, Christian parents should not teach subjects contrary to the Word of God.

Becuase the bible was written from authors 50 years AFTER jesus' death. They accepted the modern day gospels and chapters yet they rejected twice as many more becuase they claimed that Jesus was human and his teachings were more basic. Basically, they idolised Jesus to the form of a god and when people are going to be taught evolution and then question his magical abilities, they are going to be confused - who would you believe? Scientists with physical proof as bones and earth or a bible that has been around for 2 million years and never been objected before? I think teaching evolution gives kids a choice of what they want to believe in, not what is shoved their face and made to believe.

Why can't the Christians like the guy above me realize that we can't teach things that don't have evidence in a science class? Not to mention the fact that if we are going to teach creationism, which religions version of creation do we teach? Can you prove your side?
And evolution has evidence.

It is anti-Bible to teach evolution....its that simple....
You can't believe in any of the many forms of evolution and also believe the truth of Scripture...
Scripture makes no allowance for it....
"From the beginning of the Creation God made them male and female..."-- Jesus (Mk. 10:6)
Scripture says God SPOKE all things into existence with His Word:
" By the Word of the Lord were the heavens created, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.... For HE SPAKE AND IT WAS DONE; HE COMMANDED AND IT STOOD FAST". (psalm 33:6-9)

It's not evolution that bothers us, it's that evolution is presented in opposition to creationism. I teach my children that God created the world and that he used evolution to develop it. Evolutionists teach children that there was no God, that it all happened by accident. Something came from nothing, time began by chance.
