and if the word "marriage" is being used wrong, what should you call it when 2 homosexuals want to spend the rest of there life together?

Because we live in America you have the right to be with who ever you want, but as a society we are slipping down a slippery slope. If as a community we say “its ok” for homosexuals to be married we are saying to our children “it is ok”.
It does not matter what your religious beliefs are, if we only had homosexuals on the earth we would not have any reproduction.
I believe it is wrong to be gay, but I also think drug use is wrong. Should we make drug “Ok” because people have the right to be high? Or can I “marry” my mother or brother because I want to save $ on my taxes, or I just love them a lot? Also, groping in the civil right leaders w/ homosexuals that want to be married, not in the same ball park. Civil rights leaders wanted equal rights. The liberal media wants to rip what marriage is and want “special” laws and to take something that someone else has to twist it to something its not.

that's why god forbid us from marrying the same sex. it will cause diseases, and producing unstable heritage. Without lust human will not have needs. But as lust becomes a goal and not an instrument, human will be empowered by lust unlimitedly. In the end lust destroys human.

Marriage, as defined by the christian coalition is what you are referring to. Dont allow yourself to become intolerant, prejudiced and creat laws that promote discrimination, just because the church tells you to. Many people involved in this debate keep saying that marriage is defined as a man and a women. The definition comes from a biblical perspective and has no business in the creation of law in this country. We have to keep religion and the formation of law separate. If we dont, we will end up discriminating against a group of people, just like we did the African Americans during the civil rights movement. I have a dream, does not apply only to skin color. It applies to all levels of discrimination and intolerance, and this issue has to be looked at from that perspective. We cannot deny people rights, because of there sexual orientation. We just do not believe in that in this country.

I think marriage should be defined as two people. The word marriage may be right for some people and wrong for others. If two gay men wish to spend their life together, and get married, who are we to pass judgment on them and say they shouldn't?

Things have changed, and as a community we really need to get with the times. Homosexuality isnt as taboo as it used to be and now that more and more people are becoming openly gay we need to make a few changes in our standard definition of marriage because its not necesarily between a man and a woman. Love shouldnt be restricted.

I also disagree with gay marriage. However, in response to your question-the primary people who define marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman are Christians-and our defintion is biblically based. If they dont believe in the bible, whats to stop them from doing something that is considered against it?

That is your definition of marriage. My definition of marriage is two people who love each other. Who cares if gay people get married? Will it cause you to turn gay? It won't cause me to turn gay-I love women. Who cares? They should get the same benifits(and drawbacks) as a man and a woman. Sorry if it's against your beliefs, but ignorance and bigotry is against mine and I still have to put up with people like you.

I am not for or against gay marriage.

Marriage can be defined as what ever meaning you want to give to it. Homosexuals getting married, in my opinion, should be called A COUPLE BENEFITING FROM FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

"marriage is define as a man and woman" (not womEn which is plural) is only defined as such by RELIGION (especially Christan based religions. There were marriages long before Christianity, they were Civil Unions...Not everyone defines a union between partnes (marriage) as a man and a woman...not everyone is a Christian.

I think that civil unions are okay, but I'm against gays getting married. With such unions, they would have all of the benefits of a married couple, but not insult the institution of marriage.

Why do we have to define it as between a man and a woman? Any law that restricts someones rights is unjust.
