Does anyone else ever wake up in the middle of the night starving on a regular basis? This has been happening for the past couple of years since I had a severe gastro virus. When it happens, I can't get back to sleep - I am totally 'awake'. It also happens even if I've had a snack before bedtime. Sometimes it's so bad that even if I do eat something, it comes back within an hour. My last blood test was OK (insulin etc), so my doctor has just dismissed it & I've had to put up with it. Any ideas on how to manage it?

Forget Mr smartass up there. Obviously have nothing better to do with their time.
Check again for pancreatic problems - sometimes this can be caused by a non cancerous insulin secreting tumour, which causes high insulin levels, therefore low blood sugar and hunger. Additionally, it can be as a result of insulin resistance, which can be managed with lifestyle changes as per Type 2 diabetes.

I Occationaly suffer a bit, but obviously not as much as you do.
It's just like insomnia. Try looking around for a medical center near you which specialises in sleep disorders. they may be able to pin point what the problem is.

it might be that your body is experiencing episodes of low blood sugar.......my daughter used to do that all the time....the Dr said it was probably low blood sugar....

If your Dr. is dismissing you fear / worry then it's time to find a different Dr.
