Something no one else has mentioned: the power of communication!

The focus of the story was that with a common language, mankind's limitations are few. Though God was not threatened by the aspirations of the tower builders, He was angered by their arrogant motivation: to be as God is in heaven by the power of their own minds.

To bring mankind back down to earth, figuratively and literally, God confounded their language and sent them packing. This was per His previous commandment to multiply and subdue the earth rather than unite against God.

In our time, language barriers are being torn down in every way with the advent of the internet and other globalization phenomena. At a critical point, likely near or during the Great Tribulation, mankind will again reach that point where their common language and unity will fuel their arrogance against God's will.

God got (ticked) about the tower of Babel because they were trying to get to heaven. And God had already said that there was only one way to heaven.
God did not get (ticked) when man went to the moon because that was our goal. We weren't trying to get to heaven, mist and hit the moon. The moon was were we were trying to go.

The Tower of Babel was attempt to explain the fall of Sumerian civilization. The events actually occured (mass immigration of Semitic peoples speaking Semitic languages), but the theological conclusions are speculation on the part of Jewish scholars during the Babylonian captivity.

The men building the tower of Babble thought they were building it to heave. The men going to the moon knew they were not going to heaven. I imagine if the space program started to seriously building a space ship to heaven God would step in and confuse them a little. God Bless

OMG that's funny! Doesn't make any sense does it. You can't build a high tower (even though it can't possibly reach God), but you can go to the moon.

God's plan was that humans spread out and multiply all over the earth. The tower was build out of pride to keep humanity in one place where they could be powerful. They disobeyed God, so he made sure they spread out. It has nothing to do with being high in the sky.
