Who has tried Absinth (the green Fairy)?

The primary flavor of Absinthe is anise...if you like black liquorice, you'll love it.
Traditionally, it's mixed with water at about a 1 part Absinthe to 4 parts (or more) of water. It's generally 60-85% alcohol, so it needs to be diluted to be enjoyed.

The stories of it being a hallucinogen or toxic or horribly addictive are all myth...however so many people believe it and will continue to say so with no other information than "I heard that..."

Lots of good information here - http://www.feeverte.net/ including sources to order from. Avoid the Czech Absinthes...they're harsh and poorly made. The French and Swiss are the best available.

yep right here, it's a good sweey tasting liquor and all the rumors that you've heard about it giving halusinations is false, back in the old days cheap absenth that vangough drank when he cut off his ear for his love one are over, modern dat absinth is as clean as todays whiskey and really good. Goth baqrs serve it and have no problem. Absinth is a sweet and good drink that can only be ordered from europe that is truely an experiance that must be savored.

It is legal again in Europe as of this year. it tastes alot like Ricard, just a bit rougher. Although I prefer Pastis. I do like it, and prepared as it was then, iced water poured over a sugar cube placed on a slotted spoon into an iced glass with a shot of it inside....but only one drink as an apero, and especially in France. Here I go again...

it was like drinking fire . i mean it .it was horrible. i took one shot with water and sugar and it just sucked so bad . i act reasonably well at all times but after i drank that i ran my mouth under cold water right out of my sink. on the other hand i was really drunk and my husband did 2 shots straight up and acted the fool all night long. he had been drinking a little before and i had not been. he remembers how he acted but said it was like what came up came out he couldn't control himself. he does that a lot i think he needs help-lol-just kidding. just be carefull if you do it and a little goes a really long way so pace your self and wait between drinks you don't want to end up kissing your brother like in that movie European Vacation

yep, 1 shot made me pass out 3 times playing need for speed and i can handle ALOT of alcohol, my friend was playing a game and though i put a sticker on the tv because nothing was moving (when it actually was) and tried to peel it off and i got a stitch from laughing. warning tastes very strong of anise (licorice) unless it says "no anise taste" on the bottle. if the drink contains no wormwood (a herb) u will not halucinate, drink it pure in shots for best results.

i tried the black one which was either 80 or 90 percent proof, and did it straight!! it burned like hell for about five mins but quickly got over it by drinking vodka with redbull and straight malibu!!!!!!

It is illegal to bring it through customs, but it is legal to purchase it on-line.
