I have a child in my preschool with moderate cerebral palsy?

Question

Two of her limbs are affected and she has trouble comunicating with the other children.
I am trying to find ways to include her into the daily classroom activities. I don't have a lot of experience with children who have special needs so any help will be appriciated. I would love to have an inclusive program.

make things as accessible as possible for her.
you didn't say which 2 limbs (upper/lower/right/left?)
if it is hands/arms, things like a tilted easel to write on instead of a flat desk, and a built up handle pen/crayon/brush/etc, to make it easier to grasp.

BUT you do not want to encourage her to seek the easy way. You do want to encourage her to do everything her peers are doing and only when she fails should you intervene with an adaptation. It sounds obvious, but over the years i have seen many well intentioned individuals cause additional difficulties by helping too much.

the hassle-free answer is there's no distinction between somebody with cerebral palsy having babies and somebody without cerebral palsy having babies. some couples have hardship conceiving and a few do no longer. Cerebral palsy does no longer inherently impression fertility.

Has she had an evaluation for augmentative communication devices? Its very important that these children be given a voice, and this is usually the best way to go. If she has no use of hands then she can use eye gaze for these devices.

Also, just wondering...have you had her tested for Rett Syndrome? It is often misdiagnosed as CP and has loss of hand usage and communication first.

With my nephew, who has CP. We all learned sign language so we could communicate with him easier. Also, a good idea may be to have some form of a communication board. EXP:
with pictures of the rest room, food, drink, and ect. It may make his time more enjoyable just by using simple commincating skills like this . I wish you lots of luck!

take one day at a time.See how she does.Try to get involved with others who have similar special children such as yours.Give her as much love and caring as you can.Dont get discouraged when things dont go as well as they should but that is what i need to learn also.Love and compassion is the key and everything will work out.God bless you.
