Wow! I have this same problem, so I won't be of much help!
Being on the computer CAN be addcting!
As long as you're NOT viewing inappropriate sites or engaging in sinful activities, there's nothing wrong with it!
However, I DEFINITELY see your point AND well-made, I will add!
I will not suggest sleeping pills! Like yo said, it's "self-discipline", plain and simple. Just tell yourself, that at this certain time, I'm getting off the computer and going to bed. Make sure your friends know this IN ADVANCE, so that they can prepare to support you and let you go, when it's time.
After you fall back into the good habit, you'lll be fne! LOL It's only been a couple of weeks, you said. Figure on it taking that much time to get back to where you were!
I think you already KNOW your answer . . . you just need "confirmation" perhaps! Everything you've mentioned, ARE your answers!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

"...I'm too addicted to my laptop...I have no discipline..." How 'bout you start building your self-discipline one step at a time. I suggest taking your laptop out of your room. Set a curfew for yourself and when it's that time, shut it down. Ask your parents for help, if you can. Also, set your alarm to go off the same time everyday (eventually even weekend-days, but start small). And don't snooze! Often I find that if I get up as soon as my alarm goes off, it affects how quickly I fall asleep, and usually right around the same time. Lastly, take care of your body. You've only got one. Treat it well and it will treat you well. Good luck.
....ok, after reading some of the posts, I just have to add: DON'T TAKE ANY PILLS OR MEDS! Just go to sleep naturally. Your body doesn't need any of that.

Try to rotate your wake phase by getting up earlier. This should begin to correct the problem. Move it up a lot in the first step, say an hour. If you want to do the same thing go ahead. You will be hit by this so if you have the will do it on a light day.

wow, if ur so tired in the day... i wonder wat kind of graded u get...sry off topic much=) nway.. 1. take laptop out of room and put it in the room that u hate the most and would not like to go to in the middle of the night... 2. ask ur mom for help ( as in=ask her to force u to get off the laptop after 9 or 9:30 latest if u want 7-8 hrs of sleep.. ask her (or dad) to ground u or punish u in someway which u hate!!)
3. go on laptop for a max of 2 hrs a day, spend rest of time doing hmwk, studying, that kinda stuff.... watch t.v. for like an hour or two, then go up to room at 9... turn off light and go to sleep. ( for help falling asleep, fantasize, put on a cd that calms u, a light show that u can continuously watch and fall asleep to. ) also try not eating anything right b4 bed, it makes u stay up... especially sweet stuff that gets u high!!!! =)....
that should pretty much help, tell me how it works out..!!!=)

Give your laptop to your parents and tell them to lock it up, unless you are doing homework on it...addictions to computers aren't as easliy solved as other addictions are...
Maybe see the Dr for some sleeping pills...or put the laptop where you can't see it and go out for a walk and then get some milk and drink it before you go to bed...

try and take like an hour nap when you get home from school, then you can stay on your laptop til after twelve, but serioously try and find a cut off time for yourself too. . .. just tell yourself that the laptop is going off at a certain time, and make sure you stick to it :)
good luck, but a nap will really help :)

Welcome to the world of darknes, ha, ha, ha-- no seriously I have insomnia- 4:30 is early for me-- and that's with sleeping pills.
Hate to tell you this but you need to get your "clock" in order- go to walmart or a dollar store and get the generic tylenol PM-- it costs 1/5th the price and it is only Benadryl-- take one tablet and go lay in bed it will work- you will feel great in the morning and after about a week or so you won't need it anymore........ps cut out caffeine- after supper
