power transmition?

I have noticed some Spheres(1ft dia) on HV transmition lines every 10m or so (on each wire) in UAE.
can any body tell me the technical reason for them
are they saging weights for the lines for the high speed winds.......

2 Reasons behind.

1. To weight down the whole wire so that it won't swing during the blowing of wind.

2. Aeroplane or Helicopter can easily spot an overhanging HV Cable

Let me guess. They are bright orange? They're so that aircraft don't fly into the power lines.
