in a better place now, but still scared.

It mostly has to do with me, commitment issues and a bad childhood.

Anyone else out there afraid and stalling?

You are not alone. That is why the term "cold feet" became so well known... the majority of couples (and yes BOTH sexes) have had "cold feet" or "nervous jitters". It may not be that you are truly afraid to get married... you may just be nervous, have doubts, and havent been able to resolve that. Some people cant resolve it until they have been through it and find out that everything is still ok, they are still a single entity... they didnt lose themself in the deal... they are just a part of a larger picture now. You will be ok. Fear is natural, just dont let it rule your life. :)

When I was getting married to first time we were both so scared and fought all the time during the engagement, so we called the wedding off,,, and guess what???? no more fighting that right there told us it was merely nerves, so we dropped the huge long drawn out planning of a big wedding and did a quick and simple ceremony and the fighting and "cold feet" was over...

im scared too, trust me...but then my boy does something that makes me so happy to be with him i cry and its better. i think im just scared cause its differant and im not quite sure what to do yet, and neither is he. plus two of my brothers are engaged as well and planning their weddings at the same time (we are all getting married at least a year apart from each other) but im still afraid its stressing my parents out. so trust me, your not alone. i dont know how much comfort that gives you, but it does make me feel better to know im not the only one with some trepidation.

I apparently should be afraid to get married. Should be, but ain't. Five times so far. I think I have kind of sworn off marriage, but with me ya just never know. It is not like being executed you know - most folk look forward to marriage and there is happiness to be found married. Good luck to you.
