I am wanting to make a recipe that calls for heavy cream. When I went to 3 stores, all I could find is whipping cream. Is this the same? If not where the heck do I find plain old cream?
Thanks in advance for your help

HI, I can help.

Heavy cream is the whipping cream you find in the dairy case that is usually in a pint or 1 qt container. Sometimes you find it that says heavy cream on the side of the container also. I hope this helps. By the way it keeps for several days in the refrigerator. I have kept it for a month before it went sour. If it turns sour, use it in a recipe for sour cream cookies or cake.

Have a great time in the kitchen!

If you are making a dessert yes its the same. It is sweet.
If its for a cooking(cream or cheese sauce) recipe...heavy cream is best. check the label for sugar or corn syrup before buying. Heavy cream should have no added ingredients.

Whipping cream is heavy cream. And, if you want to impress someone, add some sugar and whip the hell out it. Then you have whipped cream. Mmmm...
