I need to get a newer one. Not brand new. But a year or two old, that is easy on gas....and dependable. Any recommendations?

check into a ford fusion. easy on the gas, good handling, good looking, and surprisingly enough, was a better pick than the camry or the accord, according to a recent survey done by car and driver magazine.

Oh Yes, I Love My Car! I've got an Opel Astra (She's German!)

Considering your needs, I'd recommend a Japanese car, They are easy on gas, they are reliable even if they are used.

I could narrow down to the following 4 options for you in order of preference:

i) Toyota Corolla - Mid-Sized - 40 - 45 Miles Per Gallon
ii) Honda Civic - Mid-Sized - 40 - 45 Miles Per Gallon
iii) Honda Accord - Huge! - 25 - 30 Miles Per Gallon
iv) Toyota Camry - Obese! - 25 - 30 Miles Per Gallon

The thumb rule is - if its got a larger engine, it will consume more gas compared to a car with a smaller engine. Keep that in mind, any Japanese car will suit your needs right. Cheers!

I love my 2006 Honda Accord. I get about 27 mpg (I do a lot of highway driving). Problem with Honda cars is that the used ones are very expensive. When I was shopping for mine the used ones were 4+ years old with 60k miles for $14-15k, and I paid $19k for my brand new one, newer body style, 8 airbags, etc. I plan to keep it for 10 years so it was worth it to get exactly what I wanted.
