Has anyone been to a coffee crawl?

I've decided to have a coffee crawl with my friends (like a pub crawl or a bar crawl, but coffee houses instead). But, I'm not sure where to go to in DC that have good coffee and that aren't chains. Any ideas for either activities during the coffee crawl or for good coffee house locations would be most appreciated.

We have an event here where all the local coffee places set up temporary booths at a local place for a fundraiser once a year. So you get to support a good cause and try all the coffee, all at one place. You should keep an eye out for events like that. (or make a trip to Minneapolis)

The problem with going to different places is that you wouldn't want to drink a whole cup at every place. I can go to six bars and have six drinks, but six cups of coffee? Too much!

Maybe you could do something like meet at a different place every day (or once a week) for a period of time. There are a lot of obvious coffee shop things to do like read and chat, but you do a scrabble tournament (or other board game) Soduko tournament, do a craft project like knitting, share vacation photos.

is that congruent with the term bar hopping? To go from bar to bar only coffee house to coffee house. Must be indigenous colloquialism to d.c. the "craw" term. Interesting. I like colloquialisms.

No. But I had a friend who liked to do the Tequila Crawl. After a few, he had to crawl up the steps to get to his apartment.

i have been to some when i lived in the north west oregon washington area cause there is one on every corner out there,,,,, dc you will be going from starbuck to starbucks,,,,, i would recommend the game craniam to play at the coffee house

I never heard of that term...but I have heard of coffee klatch..
