I am going to email your answers to her. I think it's the greatest thing to come along since electricity, but she doesn't trust the internet (I even had a scam company rip me off this way - it was a mess but I finally straightened it out through my bank, they had them in their databases already and are working with law enforcement - so with good reason she is mistrustful) but unfortunately she mistrusts eveything nearly regarding the computer, and won't download limewire, which I know she will love. I love it! I only wish I had better pc speakers, or could play it on my dvd player. I am sure there's a way. Anyway, thanks a bunch!

Limewire is free!
Limewire Pro costs money....however you can download it for free (illegally, of course) from Limewire itself.

It is only unsafe if you are stupid about it. A virus will only infect your computer if you attempt to download an executable file. Just make sure you use McAfee or Norton to scan the files for viruses before you run exe files. mp3 and wma files are fine. As for playing the music on a dvd player, you should be able to burn a music cd (using Nero, windows media player etc.) and play it in the dvd player. test out a real cd to see if it works.

It is free. The basic one is free. For the Pro one it is $20. It is not a scam. Only download LimeWire for limewire.com and you will be fine. I bought pro because I like limewire so much.

Hey, sister, yes, we are right, Limewire is free.

Hope It helps you out my friend.

People who say limewire Pro blah, blah, blah, let me tell them that It's free, too. The unsafe part means you need to be sure what you download, specially software, check them out before open them always, just in case. You can download Ares which another P2P programme free and search there for Limewire Pro which you'll find it free, free.
For Ares, I think this one is much better, here's the site.

Limewire Basic is free. It's also an awesome way to download viruses and trojans, and if you use it to download music, movies or software then you're committing a crime and can find yourself facing a lawsuit. Plus, the company itself is being sued for allowing massive piracy by its users, and the first case goes to trial in May.

Email this to your sister as well. She needs to be aware that if you're referring to downloading copyrighted music (i.e. 98% of music on LimeWire), you're likely to receive either a cease and desist letter from your ISP from the RIAA or a lawsuit from them with a fine of around $750 per song. Whether or not you agree with the amount of the fine (I personally think it's ridiculous) it happens, and you should be aware of it.

EDIT: As a side note, the risk of this is much greater if you are SHARING the files that you download, and not just downloading them. This is done by default.

Limewire is free to use but please be aware of the following:
1. It is only legal if you use it to download public domain material.
2. You stand a very high risk of downloading a virus or other form of malicious software to your computer.
3. If you use it to download anything which is not public domain you stand the risk of prosecution by authourities both in your Country and possibly outside.

Yes
unless you want Limewire Pro (you'd pay 19.99 a month for faster downloads)

Sure, it's free, and so are all the viruses you get with it. Limewire freakin' sucks.
