I would like to think that the lightning would strike the Christian being he is already going to heaven. Let the atheist live longer and hopefully give his life to the Lord before he passes.

The christian, probably, because God would want the atheist to find him before dying.

true story:
there was a man who was fishing with his son and his son's friend, in the ocean. all of a sudden a storm came along, and the two boys were thrown from the boat. the man had to think fast, he only had enough time to save one. he know that his son was a christian, but his son's friend was not. his heart broke in two as he threw the safety device out and called "I love you, son!" and then pulled his son's friend in to safety. The boy was amazed at such faith in the Lord, and later went on to become a christian.

Only God knows. If it is the Christians time to die, he will.. If it's the atheists time to die, he will.. God doesn't kill people, Satan does. God allows it to happen and knows it will happen.. But whether a person is a Christian or not has absolutely nothing to do with when or how they will die..

There's the oblique chance that the lightning would hit the Christian to bring him home to his God and leave the atheist time to repent. "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us–ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).

The Christian. He/she would be more likely to have a metal plate in their head.
