Temperature is a measure of the kinetic energy of the molecules in a material.
If the temperature drops it means that energy has left the material.

Pick up a metal bowl of hot water. If your hand warms up, the energy came from the water, and its temperature went down.

if temperature goes down in water... heat was released from the water...

water has a high heat capacity..

notice that if you put on an empty pan on an open flame and about 30-a minute later.. it is already hot...

but if you fill it with water, you can touch it (not the bottom of the pan) and it will be fine for the first minute or so...

water can absorb alot of heat and it can release it too...

greenhouse effect is part of this too...

notice how our bodies normally stay around 98 degrees...

we are like 90%+ of water... so we have a high heat capacity too...

The temperature of water goes down when it releases heat energy...

For eg. you take a drop of alcohol and put on your palm , you feel cold because alcohol absorbs your body heat ,,

Like that when normal water (not cold or hot) fall on our body we feel cold because water also absobs heat ..

when the temperature of water goes down it release heat energy...

Energy = Heat
Cooling means Heat is leaving
Since Energy is heat, it is also leaving
Energy is released

Temperature is the measure of the speed of particles which is kinetic energy. The faster, the warmer and more energy.

Released by the water, absorbed in equal amount by something else.
