we went out but sort of broke it off like two months ago... whenever i ignore him and act like i dont care he flirts and flirts.. but when i start to flirt he acts uninterested or even hurt. he also acts sort of flirty with other girls... i dont know what to do... i want to let go and forget but he wont let me... sometimes i think id also like to give it another try but i dont know if he wants that... whats he thinking??? what should i do?

The only thing that he is trying to do is make you jealous, ive seen to many people do this. If you act less interested more and more he will eventually flip and ask you out or break down, at that point you pretty much have him. If you act interested he is going to keep flirting and flirting until you ask him out again.

Well how long did you date for? If it was forawhile he might get jealous when you talk to other guys and feels like he need to defend his low self esteem by proving to himself that he is the man. Also when you ignore him he misses the attention you use to give him so he has to generate it himself. Sounds kind of like a jerk....
