Christians are always telling us that their Jesus died for their sins.
Maybe if they didn't sin so much he wouldn't have had to die?

Also, I'm not a Christian. Does this mean that he didn't die for my sins? Does this mean that I have to be answerable for my own?

Perhaps if we were all made to realise that we would have to answer for our own and not shrug our shoulders and say, "Oh, it's okay. Jesus died for whatever I just did," the world might be a better place.

Of course all those people out there who have that sickly sort of smug, half smile on their face that says, "I know something you don't know," will have very clever and well thought out answers for the above but remember what it was like when you were very young and a bully was trying to hit you. You hid behind your mother's skirt. Don't you Christians realise that by saying, "Jesus died for us," you are doing exactly the same thing?

Okay - let the hate mail begin.

Jesus gave up his life in order to be a sacrifice for our lives and so that he could be the first to be resurrected.

Jesus did die for the entire worlds sin (John 3:16) the only problem is that only the people that BELIEVE will have everlasting life. Yes if we dont accept Gods grace we DO have to answer for our sins!

The world becomes no better when people think they can work to earn their own salvation. That is precisely what all Muslims believe, how much is Islam benefitting the world?

Accepting Jesus' sacrifice is not our own idea and it is not an excuse or cop out, that is simpy the ONLY way to be forgiven.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -Ephesians 2:8

I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life -John 5:24

But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. -Matthew 10:33

It doesn't work that way. the Bible says "for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God". Jesus died for all our sins, everyones. he offers eternal life, it is a gift, and all we have to do is accept it. If you don't want to accept his gift, then yes, you will be accountable for your own sins. and no one is "good" enough to get into heaven without Jesus.

you are right, there are some Christians who say " i am covered y the blood, so it doesn't matter what i do, God will still love me." yes, God will still love them, but we as Christians are called to a higher standard, we are supposed to be the lights on a hill, Jesus said people will know who his followers are by the fruits of their labor. Jesus's blood covers all our sins, but that doesn't give us a free license to sin. we are supposed to stay true to the course that God has laid out for us, and above all, love God and others, all others. That is our greatest calling as christians. But being a christian is not only about "doing the right thing". it is also about loving God and Jesus, getting to know them on a personal level, and worshipping them in the way they deserve.

we do not deserve salvation, it is not something we have earned, it is a gift that we must not abuse. So let us rise above our earthly behavior, and listen to what God wants us to do.

"For God so loved the WORLD [all the people in it] that He gave His only, begotten Son".
All humans ever, born will have to give account before God for his or her own actions. I do not have a "sickly sort of smug, half-smile on my face" - either. Jesus died for our sinS because nothing short of a God-Being [Jesus - God in the Flesh] would suffice, as a sacrifice for sin, to God, the Father. Remember; all and any sin is against God, the Father - bottom-line !!! I have sinned, I do sin and will sin -all the days of my life, just like you do.
You have the opportunity and free-choice to repent of your sins [past] and fall under the grace of God, the Father, through Jesus Christ, via the Holy Spirit, in a relationship with Him [Jesus Christ]. Remember; YOU count as much to God, as I do !!!

Many,do not understand, what Jesus actually did for us.

God is not happy with the choices that mankind has collectively made through the ages, as a matter of fact,he was furious. We had no hope. Our eternal destiny was eternal judgement, separation from God,in hell. No possibility of mercy.

God loved man(his own creation) so much that he clothed himself in a body of flesh and blood... and finding no good on planet earth, sacrificed Himself in our place. I in no way feel smug, nor is this hate mail...Without Christ, there is no hope in this life...and in the next...judgement....it will be horrible for those who do not accept the attonement of Jesus Christ for their sinful condition.

Further, it does not matter what Atheists,Agnostics,Muslims,Buddhists, Gnostics,New Age Thought,Satanists,or any others believe on this subject...The end of the age is near...Jesus will return...there will be many who are not ready...I myself walk in fear and trembling..without his grace,I too am lost.

Jesus died for the sins of the world, that includes yours. But God will never foist His will upon you, you must ask. If you stand on the deck of the Titanic, and someone offers a seat on a lifeboat, and you refuse for whatever reason, who's fault is it when you perish?

No hate mail from me, and I was born and raised a Christian--and still am--even if I don't get to church as often as I should.

I was taught that Jesus died for our sins, and I firmly believe that. We must remember that Jesus was of the Jewish faith--and that the Jewish are often referred to as "God's chosen people." I do not think that God would keep them out of paradise. I think that, on Judgment Day, everyone will have their chance to get into Heaven.

God and Jesus did not create any religions--men did. The followers of Jesus created Catholicism, the followers of Martin Luther created the Lutheran religion, and so on for many other branches of the Protestant faith.

THIS IS NOT HATE MAIL:
I want to say that Christianity is SUPPOSED to teach that Christ died for the Sins of THE WORLD! It is often misconstrued, even by Christians, that Jesus died for THEIR SINS ALONE.

This may answer your question.

We do have to answer for our own words and actions. Jesus came to earth, died, rose from the dead and went back to Heaven in order to open the gate of Heaven for us, to teach us more about God and to let us have a personal relationship with God, to redeem our sins. If we accept Him, believe in Him as being the Son of God, have full faith and follow all the rules (with the gift of forgiveness), then we have saved our soul from hell.

Redemption - Jesus gave us a coupon to redeem when we die, or a 'get out of hell' card. As humans on earth, we nuture and nourish our souls with His teachings and love. When our bodies die, our soul takes the coupon/card to Jesus for judgment and if we did what we were suppose to do, we can redeem our coupon and go to Heaven. If we didn't do what we were suppose to do, He takes the coupon and rips it up and send us to hell. -- This is how I've explained it to my son and in religious class so children can better understand it.

Jesus’ Death Has Great Value

Adam’s death had no value; he deserved to die for his sin. Jesus’ death, however, had great value because he died in a sinless state. Jehovah God could accept the value of Jesus’ perfect life as a ransom for obedient descendants of sinful Adam. And the value of Jesus’ sacrifice does not stop at paying for our past sins. If it did, we would have no future. Being conceived in sin, we are bound to err again. (Psalm 51:5) How grateful we can be that Jesus’ death makes provision for us to gain the perfection that Jehovah originally intended for the offspring of Adam and Eve!

Adam can be likened to a father who died and left us in such deep financial debt (sin) that there is no possible way for us to get out of debt. On the other hand, Jesus is like a good father who died and left us a rich inheritance that not only frees us from the enormous debt that Adam burdened us with but also provides enough for us to live on eternally. Jesus’ death is not simply a cancellation of past sins; it is also a wonderful provision for our future.

Jesus saves because he died for us. And what a valuable provision his death is! When we see it as a part of God’s solution to the complex problem of Adam’s sin, our faith in Jehovah and his way of doing things is strengthened. Yes, Jesus’ death is a means of rescuing “everyone exercising faith” in him from sin, disease, old age, and death itself. (John 3:16) Are you thankful to God for making this loving arrangement for our salvation?

There is only one thing that separates someone from the one true God and that is that we do not know the Savior Jesus. It has nothing really to do with all of the bad things we all do. Nor does entering the Kingdom of Heaven have anything to do with all of the good things people do. We aren't being condemened for every sin we commit.Nor are we being recognized by what good we have done. When Adam broke the one and only Law in the garden: "do not touch or eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil," he and Eve fell under another authority, satan's. He was origianlly under God's authority first. But satan's goal was to be God and because of his pride, he was cast out of heaven onto earth and found a clever way to deceive Adam and Eve. If he could just convince them that they would not die and put doubt in their minds that what God said wasn't true, then if they fell for it they would essentially be giving their God given authority to satan. Satan was also jealous that Adam was given dominion over the entire garden. They were spiritually seperated from God and Jesus was sent to reconcile us back to the original state that Adam and Eve were in. Things will not be the same on Earth until it is restored, but Jesus is referred to as the second Adam. The one who came to reconcile us back to God and give us the opportunity to accept the free gift that would restore our spiritual state and put us back under the authority of God. Which gives us eternal life. Satan's rule only leads to eternal death. Anyone who does not accept Christ Jesus as their savior (all are given the same chance) is under satan's authority and are children of his, and those who accept Christ into their lives to be Lord is a child of God. That is why Jesus died, and now lives and is sitting at the right hand of God. (to sit at the right hand of God gives Jesus kingship and authority). Those who accept Him reign with Him as kings and inherit His royalty. And even better, get to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Just by accepting His love and trusting Him.
